Once again, as well not being able to run an airline properly, he thinks, again he's above the law?
    No surprise there....

JPears - you should take a look at a well-known open pilots’ forum. Things don’t appear well in the RA camp....

So why do these people still have a licence to fly in Europe?
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • This would seem to be a case of Ryanair getting in their retaliation first, and no doubt some disappointed passengers will be put off, as they will when Ryanair deny their claims.

However, the view that the airline is not responsible for staffing their flights is of course risible and I doubt that Courts will waste much time in finding so.
Plus marks to the regulators for publicising their view. STand by for some action on the Ryanair thread.

Alas in the Guardian, Simon Calder has made a fundamental error saying that passengers can't claim compensation because of the internal Ryanair strike.
What hope have passengers/consumers if their supposed champions can't even get basic facts correct....?

Don't expect to receive any compensation quickly, Using AviationADR, it has taken 6 months and still waiting for adjudication! So much for it being a quicker way than going to small claims..

The Civil Aviation Authority has said it is taking legal action against Ryanair over its refusal to compensate thousands of UK-based customers.

Their flights were cancelled or delayed over the summer because of strikes by Ryanair pilots and cabin crew.

The CAA says they are entitled to compensation under EU law.

However, Ryanair argues the strike action amounts to "extraordinary circumstances" and that therefore, it does not have to pay.

The CAA have taken a long time to reach what appears to be an obvious decision but having said that, Ryanair has successfully defended cases based on the summer strikes in at least three countries and some other regulators have agreed with the airline!

The bad news is that Ryanair, to show how unhappy they are, have withdrawn from ADR in the UK for any claim so you will have to sue. The decision by the CAA is clearly not the end of the matter
