Not correct.......I have a monthly contract & use Three In Touch.
Wrong end of the stick, Three are the only network that allow PAYG customers to use wifi calling ;)

Also, be aware that only Three allow PAYG users to use it, as far as I know.

I have used the three intouch app but strangely it asks to connect to mobile data before using the wifi, this is daft because I want to use wifi precisely because I don't have a mobile data signal, how can they design such a stupid system!!

Three in touch app if I remember you needed to connect once using mobile signal and then after that you could make it work. Although not really relevant to me as I am on three and have wifi calling working.
EE allow all contract users with a compatible handset.
Vodafone only allow some contract users and have a really small number of phones that can use it.
I don't know what the qualifications to use it on o2 though.
I can flash the network specific firmware to make the wifi calling work as long as my phone is compatible. I actually have a network free phone but I currently have the three firmware on it so that I could make the wifi calling work on three (my current network)

I have wifi calling on EE with a Samsung Galaxy S6 - works perfectly. It has a little wifi symbol on the call button (presumably so you know it may drop the call if you walk out the door?)

Not all wifi calling compatible phones will work on EE. All compatible phones purchased directly from EE will and there is a list of those purchased elsewhere that "should". ;)

My locked to and branded EE phone purchased from Tesco will not but MrsM's same model genuine EE stock purchased new from an EBay seller does.

Oh, I know that, by compatible handset I mean any EE compatible handset as shown on their website.
I would use the term WiFiCalling capable for any handset that can do WiFiCalling.

By the way, what EE branded phone do you have that won't work?

    MNOs

O2 (PAYM only, no SMS option)
    EE (PAYM only, SMS too)
Vodafone (PAYM only, no SMS option)
Three (PAYM & PAYG, SMS too)

    MVNOs

    BT Mobile (same as EE)
    iD Mobile (same as Three)

You'll have to check on each operator's site as to which phones support it as it gets very messy with Android phones. On EE/Three/BT/ID from the iPhone 5s onwards supports it, O2 is from the iPhone 6 and Vodafone is from the iPhone 6s officially.

I would just add that for Vodafone you need to be on specific contracts as well.
A Pay monthly Red Extra or Red Entertainment plan, or a Red or Red Value Bundle.

Why do some companies make it so complicated ... Good job I wouldn't consider vodaphone anyway due to their price and their shoddy signal most places.

I'm using iD with a sim free Samsung (flashed with 3 firmware) and it now work with both 4G calling and wifi calling.

Have to put up with a 3 startup screen and some 3 bookmarks, otherwise OK.
