Morning everyone,
So sorry to hear about you Nan TRU and sorry that you had to find out via FB. Who would your Dad prefer to hear the news from, personally I would ring and let him know?
Another hot one forecasted for today and then it’s meant to get slightly cooler, it’s been lovely to have a proper summer but could do with a bit of a break now, it’s hard to sleep and the garden is really suffering. So is Lu’s paddock and I am having to supplement with hay, summer is supposed to be the time that I get to save a bit of money ready for more expense in the winter but it’s simply not working out that way
Am off to see my DSIL later, she is having a nasty op later in the week so is having a girlie together tonight.
Have a good day folks and take care folks x0 -
Good morning everyone,
A quick post from me as I've quite a bit of work to get through today.
A nice weekend was had, which included the home leg of the stag I was on a few weeks ago. Probably spent more than I should have but I had a really good night.
Skipped the gym this morning and I've got 1 x game of football tonight. Yesterdays LO for dinner.
Tru - Sorry for your loss. I'd tell him. It's not your fault how you found out.0 -
Tru I'm sorry for your loss. Personally I am in the "tell your dad yourself" camp - if there is a family row about how the news came out, it did not start with you xx
TA maybe you could write a round-robin email to your DH's family to update them, without having to tell them face-to-face (and would reduce annoyance at the self-centred one)... putting it in writing makes it more real for them.

I may have misunderstood but I thought it was that TRU was waiting for her dad to ring and break the news to her. If that's the case Tru I would wait and if it all hits the fan later tell a white lie and say you hadn't seen the post.
We drove to Filey, Flamborough and Bridlington yesterday. We were very impressed by Filey, it doesn't seem to have acquired that seediness so many once popular resorts have. It was a real nostalgia trip - donkeys on the beach and make your own amusements.
Off in a minute to walk 7 and a half mils, just hope there is a cool breeze off the sea.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you eed one.
Tru....sorry to hear your news, I would ring your father and tell him. If there is a row, well its not your fault.....some people have no sense or manners.
Gers.. I hope you mum makes some progress now she is home, Travelling back and forth in this weather is exhausting.
Dumpling.. hope you can sort something out for Lee.
Mrs TA.. I hope you get some answers today, and it is not bad news.
All of you have an extra hug.
OH is driving me mad with the fly swatter. Last night he swatted a fly just as I was going to drink my tea!! clean tee shirt needed. I think I need to hide it. I spray the rooms each night before we go to bed, but the curtain I bought for the back door fell down, the stickers were not enough to hold it, so I need to find another way of putting it up. I do like the back door open when its cooler.
Bed stripped and in the washer, towels will be done in the morning. I have an extra large bath towel which drowns me, I am thinking of cutting a piece off the bottom and re hemming it. I can use the cut off piece to make dishcloths with.
Yesterdays leg of lamb cooked great in the remoska, I will slice whats left and have it with salad and new spuds tonight. I have also used it for the chicken breasts and pork chops, so whilst it is so hot I will continue to use it rather than the combi which gets very hot and makes the kitchen stuffy.
We are still picking raspberries, jam is on the horizon, I have bought a digital thermometer which I am hoping will be easier to use then the thermometer I already have. The gooseberry bushes have been stripped and we have pulled the last of the rhubarb. There is still some on the plants, but I never pull it after the end of July anyway. We have 2 drawers full of fruit in the sewing room freezer.0 -
Morning all,
Tru sorry to hear of your Nans passing. My advice is say you havent been on Facebook. You know nothing...
The banging and drilling has resumed but resumed at a reasonable time thankfully.:rotfl: The shower/bath is out of action though so we will all have to stink for a bit.
Trying really hard to keep on top of things but its like peeing in the wind.
Hounds have had a hair cut... Second one in a month. Their hair is growing so fast its hard to keep up with it.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I don't envy you as whatever you decide you will feel as if you cannot be entirely truthful albeit for a good reason.
TA
Fingers crossed that something can be suggested to help DH and that the journey is not too bad especially if it is still hot.
DD went home yesterday after she and SIL had lunch with me and left with the rest of the 1st size nappies I had bought, some craft ales for SIL and some caffeine free soft drinks for DD etc. She is 38 weeks and I have a feeling the baby will not be arriving late as she thought. The next week is liable to be interesting..
Today is due to be a little cooler with rain this evening so I will take in the laundry from outside later. I have been having commercial ice lollies to cool down but decided to start making my own with strawberries and yoghurt so put some in the freezer this morning. I want to go to the local shop later to get a few ingredients to bake fancy cereal bars that I can freeze later this week and maybe some more eggs etc.
Does anyone else find the hot weather makes them have less of an appetite as I only realised at 2p.m. that I have not eaten anything yet?
I might cook some low fat sausages in the hot air fryer and have a sandwich and then some fruit and have already cooked baby potatoes to have with veg and some protein tonight.
Hugs to all0 -
Afternoon to all you lovely people
:A
Sorry for the meltdown last night, I think I let things get on top of me. There is no hangover this morning but apparently I was fighting/ shouting in my sleep. I'm surprised that I slept at all as I was so wound up.
I had the opportunity to go and see DGD first performance on Sunday too, I wish I had gone now.
Mr Fix It felt a bit better and drove me to Aldi this morning, only because he wanted to inspect the special buys ( tools/ camping stuff mainly ). I got everything I needed ( asked Dad yesterday if he needed anything..... he said no, I'm not eating anything.... after demolishing a huge roast dinner ) and somehow a lot of sweet stuff fell in the trolley, biscuits, cake and chocolate bars , but I did buy bananas, raspberries and strawberries too, just to balance it out :rotfl:.
We had a snack lunch and Mr Fix It promptly fell asleep, I think the stress from yesterday got to him too and he doesn't need any more than he has already.
Anyway I have stripped the chicken carcass, ready for a stir fry at tea time, put the DW on and put the bins out ready for tomorrow. Joan caught me and told me that the kids were throwing stones at her, I promised to keep an eye out for them. I wish that I could pacify everyone that easily.
There has been a smell of burning in the air since yesterday and the local rag has reported that the mountain behind us is on fire, but the other side of it IYSWIM. It was started deliberately, what is wrong with people .
It is still very warm but overcast and we may have a shower, Oh I wish ! This afternoon I am going to watch a sci-fi film as Mr Fix It is awake now.
SilverOldie and Nelski do you think the circus have a spare cage strong enough to hold all three of them :rotfl:
Tru I am so sorry about the loss of your Nan. I agree FB is not the correct way to pass on bad news IMO, however the younger generation don't seem to feel that way.
TA you and Mr Ta are in my thoughts today. You are right they are a worry.
Holly I hope you feel better today and enjoy your time on the coast.
bellab I shall send healing vibes for your DD
csarina your comment about the fly swatter certainly put a smile on my face
LaineyT enjoy your girlie time
Ilovecomps that's my kind of hamper
Gers have an extra hug. I hope your Mum's health keeps improving. I shall send her healing thoughts.
Camelot RAIN !!! what's that then ? Good luck with the new car.
Now i have bored you all silly, I must go and get another coffee before the film starts, all this "talking" has me parched :rotfl:
Take care and hugs all roundFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Elona ...yes lots less being eaten and I prefer a small picky meal atm...no idea how people are still managing full roasts . I have become very attached to feta cheese/caesar salads, ice cream and hot dogs
no oven required. Having said that I am also partial to eating out in this weather then they can deal with a sweaty kitchen not me
Exciting times for you and DD0 -
Elona sorry cross posted.
I agree about the hot weather and food. I struggle to cook a meal, then eat it unless it's quick cook like stir fry or a microwave meal from the freezer.
Not long now to wait for that Ist cuddle :j
Nelski I did a full roast and look where it got me :rotfl:Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0
