Floors 4 You disaster!

Hi guys
On 20th May we went to the Floors 4 You branch in Preston to buy some laminate flooring (£340 worth). Due to being a bit Frank Spencer at DIY we arranged for them to fit the flooring and take the old carpet away, the date we arranged was 21st July. We were told that within 2 weeks of installation they would be in touch to arrange delivery of the flooring (it needs 4 days to acclimatise to the ambient atmosphere of our living room before laying) and we were to pay them for installation upon satisfactory completion of the work.

No probs we thought, and bought the flooring. However at the time of purchase the card machine was down so the salesman had to call head office and I had to authorise payment over the phone. I was then given the void receipt from the original failed payment. The £340 then went out of my bank the day after.

However at the time we noticed the store had a To Let sign on it to be assured they were only moving premises a mile away, and that they were keeping the phone number the same. You guessed it - 2 weeks later the shutters went down and they have not relocated. They are a chain though, and we have been in touch with them about our order. Alas they don't seem to be holding the details about it and are having to get senior management involved to chase this up.

But here's the killer - we never received a printed receipt because the card machine was down, and we can't find a written receipt anywhere. I'm 80% positive we never even got one, but my wife thinks we did. Nevertheless we can't find it, only the void receipt and my bank statement that shows £340 went out of my account to Floors 4 You.

The nearest store is Warrington to us (about 25 miles away) but i'm fearful the whole order has gone AWOL including the order for the flooring itself. I'm presuming the phone call to make payment has been recorded. So if they have messed up the whole order, what chances have we got of getting the £340 back?
Thanks in advance guys :)

No, that's what I'm stressing about. All we have is the void receipt from the failed transaction, and bank statement saying I've paid them the cash. Fingers crossed they back to us saying everything's hunky dory but in case they've lost our order, i'm wondering how we can get the 340quid back.
I'm still convinced he never actually gave us a written receipt, and all the details went into his diary. Fat lot of good that will do if they've shut up shop

Which card did you use to make the payment?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Worst case, contact your bank and ask for a chargeback as goods not received.

I haven't read your OP as I'm on a phone. Are you saying you made a bank transfer or that you paid by card? There is a BIG difference in how you go forward "if ya get my drift".

    Aye.

Also, can a bank statement be used as proof of purchase? Armed with the failed transaction receipt (though I potentially wouldn't present that straight away) and a bank statement showing the monies gone out I suspect that the head office might be a bit more willing to help

I'll give them til Tuesday, that's when they said they'd have looked into it by. Gonna ring the head office tomorrow and actually speak to a human rather than facebook messenger. Just worried if they have lost all the details I won't have a leg to stand on, but surely the evidence is all in my favour
