Old Style Daily Sunday 15th July 2018

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

A really hot day is forecast here and it feels quite warm already. So I am definitely not planning on doing any heavy housework. I was thinking of changing the bedding but will probably leave that until tomorrow.

I spent most of yesterday morning speaking to our local water board to sort out a leak that was filling the chamber in the pavement where my neighbours meter and stop switch is. The cover had started to lift because of the volume of water. She had a water leak just inside the property a couple of years ago and it caused quite a bit of damage to her floor and since then she has struggled when there are any problems. At least this time it is outside. The water company have had a look and are going to repair it sometime next week (so much for conserving water) and unfortunately she will stress until it is done.

I plan to spend this afternoon in the garden in the shade with a book as everywhere will be really busy. I have got a chicken breast portion out of the freeze for dinner and will have that with some salad and a few oven chips and I’ve got some strawberries to have with some am for dessert.

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.

Morning all and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.

It is already warm, no rain forecast for some days. There is a large snail on the outside of the sitting room window, I imagine he'll move when the sun starts shining on him.

Today a friend is visiting and that's about it. Other than the everlasting washing, I'm not planning on any housework. Dinner will be wraps, I'll marinade some chicken for that later.

Hope everyone has a good day
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning HOLLY and all to follow. Hot here already too. Another restless night because of the heat, never ending worry and Mr TA having a disturbed night too with his constant loo visits. The weather folk say next week it will cool down so I hope they are right as it might help with sleeping.

No plans for today other than maybe a quick dust and vac downstairs. I also want to sort out the freezers as everything has ended up jumbled up again. My fault entirely as it's only me who rummages in them! At least that will be a cool job!

Have a good day folks whatever you are doing and ((HUGS)) as always for the sad, poorly or worried. Take care all xx

Morning everyone and thanks for the start Holly.

I have just got back from walking little dog, it’s already warm and she is panting but better that than later in the day, she is due a haircut this week and bet she can’t wait :)
We won’t be going far today as it’s forecasted to be really hot, I know DOH wants to watch the WC final but I’ll be quite happy with reading my book. I took some stuffed chicken thighs out of the freezer last night so will need to put the oven on to cook those but will put salad and new pots with them, can’t remember the last time we had a plate of veggies!

Enjoy your Sunday folks and keep cool if you can x

    Good morning friends

Thank you for starting us off Holly

It's St Swithin's day, no idea why or how I know. Legend says if it rains today it will rain for 40 days and 40 nights... I'm so hot yes please :D

Not planning much today, just try and keep out of the sun.

Hope you all have a good day

    Morning All

Aah, Sunday. The day for a lie in. I was wide awake at 5.30 although I did have a really good sleep. Wish I could tell you of all the things I've done but I haven't managed anything yet apart from drinking tea!

All the washing was dried yesterday and the bedding went back on the bed, just a small amount of ironing to do in a bit.

It's overcast here, rain due later that will be good for the garden, I didn't water last night so hope the rain arrives. I did cut the grass so that looks a bit neater.

The chap came for the conservatory, he was here for 4 hours! I wouldn't have driven his van - he had everything tied in and the doors were open and tied up but I'm surprised he made it. Anyway, all that is now out of the driveway and saves on another skip.

Off to look at a car today, DS1 is keeping mine (large estate which I love but don't really need), his has been written off due to hitting a rock in the road and cracking the sump. I'm going for a small city car like DDs, I've been driving it for a couple of weeks and love it.

Hope you are all well, have a happy Sunday, take care. XX

Thanks for the thread Holly, hugs to all those in need.
I'm going to feed Ds's cats in a sec, when I get back we will move the boat and fill the water tank.
    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning

All's back to as it should be again now with perfect blue sky and already hot. Just in from soaking the baskets the sun doesn't hit the front of the house till lunchtime ish so plenty of time to enjoy their drink :)

Not a lot done yesterday bar some more work on the tan and a good start to my new book club book. Went out for a meal last night with my girlies and yes predictably had my fav mixed grill tandoori. Loads left so thats dinner tonight. Ill make up a big salad and do some flat breads. Strawberries and cream for pud in honour of the Wimbledon final. I wont be wasting this beautiful weather watching hours worth of tennis but I will catch the highlights later. Must be the first Wimbledon ever that hasn't been rained off at all.

Hope everyone enjoys the weather today

    Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH and myself up enjoying first peaceful cuppas of the day, boys still in their pits.

Hot and sunny start to the day again.

We got back from our hols on Friday, we had a hot and sunny week in a lovely part of the country - definitely would like to go back - but to a different place as although the accommodation was top notch we were rather a long way out from where we wanted to be, was lovely and peaceful though. We didn't get everything done we wanted but did visit some lovely places, we'll do more when we go back next time. I still have another week's holiday but have quite a bit to do, so will just potter along and get stuff done.

We'll be having egg, bacon, beans and mushrooms this morning before we go out as DS2 has an experience day today which was an 18th birthday gift - it's weather dependent so will be ringing them shortly to see if it's happening. I have been lucky with getting the holiday washing done and dried although there wasn't much as we had a washer/dryer in our accommodation so managed to do some before we came home. Boys had really looked after home whilst we've been away, the garden and greenhouse all in good order everything obviously been watered and looked after, also they had hoovered and tidied their rooms, stripped, washed and dried their bed linen (don't want to think about what's been going on!!!). Also hoovered through lounge, dining room and kitchen.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone
I haven't posted for a couple of weeks but do try to read every day.
Eldest DD came home from her travels...she loved it and decided Vietnam was her favourite country. So now she's looking for a job....she has an interview in London next week and has had a couple of Skype interviews for jobs in Germany and Switzerland. Downside is that it's costing almost £90 in train fares just to go to London for a couple of hours!
It's her graduation in Leeds on Thursday...I'm really looking forward to it as I've never been to a graduation.
I think it's your grandson's graduation this week too, JackieO ?
Yesterday was really hot here though quite windy, so we spent all afternoon in the garden. I watered my plants last night and the water butt must be almost empty! We've lived here 3 years and that's never happened before.
Today's plans are to go down to mam and dad's for coffee, go for my Sunday Times and then spend the afternoon outside. Last week at work this week so I'm looking forward to 6 weeks off....hopefully the sun will keep shining.
Oh, DD and I watched an excellent film last night - The Greatest Showman - would recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.
Hope everyone has a good day
