Jet2Holidays....Avoid

What Jet2 did to Mr Huzar and his family is beyond wrong, we must all be thankful that he fought and won his case against them to the ongoing benefit of passengers.
Jet2 are spending buckets of money on TV advertising their overpriced holidays and if you travel with them you are paying unnecessarily for this. They deliberately split parties up on the aircraft because of their desperation for additional revenue.
Avoid package holiday operators like this and do a simple DIY trip and save your money.
I do both DIY and package holidays. My holiday this year was £120 cheaper to book through Jet2 holidays than DIY. It's not always cheaper.0 -
Someone working at home! Disgusting. I bet they weren't even using a proper quill to record the transaction on their parchment.0

For an additional cost which increases the closer to departure you get.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
It sounds like you really just cannot be bothered to save money.
You quote part of my post - I said they were probably more expensive as it is all in rather than DIY and I said 'to each their own'.
I have been on Jet2 holidays and have had DIY in the past - the transport required us to phone them the day before departure to confirm the time they were picking us up. One airline would not let us check in until 2 days before coming home - wasting time.0 -
The reason we fly Jet2 when possible is the fact that the leg room on the planes is better than most of the others plus the seats do not tilt back, the extra leg room also means we do not have to book the extra price seats for comfort and having flown on TUI recently these are not cheap.0

Jet2 need avoiding only in the way that all package tour operators should be.
That said, some people will always need hand holding. People I know think we're utterly reckless to head to foreign parts with just a flight, a car and one nights hotel booked.0 -

But - sometimes package holidays are a good deal.
I've been looking at Jet2 Holidays (inspired by this thread) and have found one for June 2019.
2 weeks self catering in Greece. 22kg luggage, day flights (depart MAN 7am), 10kg hand luggage and transfers (2 hour plus so would not be cheap in a taxi) for £900 for 2 people.
Booking flight only with 22kg luggage would be £474 for 2 pax.
160 euros for transfers.
I can't find the same accommodation but the cheapest on Tripadvisor is £377 for 2 weeks.
So:
£474 + 160 euro + £377 would come in more expensive than the package holiday.
Additionally, we've booked packages with Olympic Holidays in the past.
They do small, self-catering accommodation and a lot of the places they offer are exclusive to that tour operator.
Booking package holidays isn't just about needed hand holding.0 -
Greece in June is a top destination for a non package holiday, outstanding opportunities for great value accommodation and cheap flights if you know the top flight trick. £474 is far too much.
I'm simply comparing the cost of booking a package holiday for June 2019 and the separate costs of booking flights, transfers and accommodation - right this minute.
You may think £474 is too much but that is what it is coming out at - right this minute.
And therefore it makes financial sense to book the package holiday.0 -

You aren’t comparing a variety of possibilities, and therefore your financial conclusions are flawed.
I’m leaving Greece at the airport now after a diy holiday booked with a combination of money saving tricks, staying at a hidden gem that isn’t in any package holiday brochure, using scheduled flights with a couple of money saving flight tricks, and maximising car hire money saving tricks, it took a bit of research but it has been a great trip.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
