Why not read other Smart threads?

No need to ask us, you are sitting on a forum full of Smart Parking threads from people who have been there and done that already. One search needed.

They cancel a month after seeing this template, no idea if by email or post and who cares? Yes they reply.

Keep the pot on the boil, write bad stuff on the ahopping centre's Facebook page, and complain to your MP.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the House of Commons recently

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

Just to update, I received an email from Smart informing me that the notice has been cancelled. Thank you to all for the help.

If I get any updates from the dvla or british parking I'll let the thread know.

Easy when you know v Smart, isn't it?! :)

I really wish other people would research it BEFORE they ruin their first appeal.

The BPA have responded saying that no evidence of a breach in the CoP has been provided, and so they won't investigate.

Interestingly they also said that the 10 min minimum entry grace period is a mistake and duplicated from the exit clause, and will be reviewed in a later version. It was also clarified that any entry grace period only applied if the motorist chose to not accept ie exit the parking. If they choose to accept the terms, then the grace period rolls into the parking/entry time.
