Just received an email from the third party after I asked if they might encourage Ageas to improve thier offer.

Apparently they can't discuss it with her, If true this is spectacularly wrong given they know that a proceedings are being contemplated

    Absolute idiots.

If I were in your position, I!!!8217;d send them a letter confirming you!!!8217;ve received the cheque ON ACCOUNT of the outstanding vehicle repair invoice.

Advise them the balance remains outstanding. If they don!!!8217;t send them the balance, you will issue proceedings.

In a separate letter, give them notice in accordance with S.151/S.152 of the RTA 1988 of your intention to issue proceedings and ask them of they want to nominate solicitors to accept service proceedings on behalf of their insured.

It!!!8217;ll only cost you £20 on MCOL anyway. You can claim this back when you win :)

Still haven't answered my previous questions. If your repair estimate is more than the car is worth or more than a high % of the value then they will write it off.
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

A quick look through Autotrader reveals that Ageas's payment might buy an approximate replacement if one was willing to accept a previous insurance write off and/or one with a declared mechanical defect with the seller was not proposing to fix.

Her car was was not previously an insurance write off nor and had recently passed its MOT

Looking at £2k plus there wasn't any real betterment to be had.

Of course none of the above makes no allowance for 'out of pocket' expenses which would be reasonably and foreseeable be incurred.
  • Ageas claims are absolutely appalling.
Fast enough to take your money for a policy but a very different story when they are supposed to pay it out!
I had my prize Porsche stolen last November, and trying to get some professionalism and efficiency from there claims department is impossible.
The appointed loss adjuster took over 2 months to make an appointment to see me, then didn’t bother to reply to my emails asking him what he wanted in the way of documentation. The claim handler then told me not to deal with him any more or reply to his emails as he was ‘off the case’. He then turns up at my home unannounced 3 weeks later saying he is ‘back on the case’ and apologised for all the mess up!
Ageas left it over 3 months before requesting a police report (that takes another 3 weeks). When I asked why everything is not requested at the start of the claim, I’m told ‘we can take as long as we like’! What sort of professional response is that!
The claim is now into its 5th month and although I emailed the claim handler a week ago asking for an update, I still have no reply. They can’t even respond to an email in 7 days! I also asked for contact details for the head of the total loss department, and they wouldn’t give them to me, disgusting service. I have made complaint to the FOS and the FSA (financial governing bodies) as well as Ageas themselves.
Next step will be the press and the courts!

Aegas was born of the ashes of Fortis, which in my not-so-recent professional experience was a very old-fashioned and byzantine insurer to deal with. Seems not much has changed in 10 years.
  • Avoid Like Covid19

Having had my van stolen, it all started very well and had an offer within 48hrs of reporting it the theft, the offer was ridiculas and rejected, the offer was upped over the phone by approximatly £1000 which was still a low ball, within a couple of mins i sent the loss adjuster hundreds of examples that were not hand picked but issued as a search, he went on to tell me he found two examples of the vehicle that were actually higher than was offered, i don't need the money however im not going to standby and accept this blatant attempt to rip me off. Ageas have just become my new hobby and will tell any potential customer that they need to avoid this company like you would avoid catching Covid19 DO NOT INSURE WITH COMPANY
