Ageas Insurance - a word of warning

Anybody insured with them or considering insuring with them may wish to be advised that thier treatment of third parties can be so poor that they may well end up having to deal with the claim themselves anyway;
The other half's car was hit in a car park about week ago, in all credit to the driver she left her contact details and offered to pay for the repair. Unfortunately, as so often is the case, the repair bill was more than they envisaged so they have asked thier insurers to arrange a settlement.
Sadly this hasn't gone well for us as Ageas' representatives appear to be not to grasp the difference between thier contractual relationship with policy holders and liability to third parties. The consequence of this is that thier stated final offer is some way short of the cost of repairs.
We have asked the driver to discuss the issue with her insurers but have not yet had a response.
Assuming no future improvement in the settlement we going to have to back the third party asking for payment failing this we may need to commence proceedings to recover the repair cost.

I've had the misfortune of dealing with Ageas Insurance trying to help out a relative who was not so clued up. Without going into detail, they are the worst insurance company I've ever had to deal with, and seem to make it up as they go along. If you value your sanity stay away.0

Your own insurer should be chasing them, that's what you pay them for. Let them chase Ageas for the cost of repairs."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein1

Not just us having had problems with Ageas insurance then, that is some encouragement.
I did once get them to admit they were required to place us back in the position before the accident happened before returning to the script about what would happen if we claimed on our own insurance. Why we would choose to do so is beyond me.0 -

The snag with that is that the settlement would be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the insurance policy which will be less onerous to them than the third party's liability due to their negligence.
I suspect this informs Ageas's approach0 -

agreed, but Ageas don't see it that way0

Use the repair quote as evidence to issue a small claim against the third party directly. They will have to pass it onto their insurers to deal with. When it gets to a final hearing show the Judge your evidence and you!!!8217;ll get an enforceable judgment.0

It would help if you actually posted what Ageas have offered to do & why you think it is unreasonable.All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0

That is the final option, I did mention this course of action to Ageas but they seemed quite happy to abandon the third party and let them defend and pay the claim.0 -

Repair estimate £1,100, final offer £850
My view is any settlement should also include that both our insurance premiums will be higher for the next five years as the incident will have to be declared and insurers are in the habit of charging more even for no fault accidents.0
