My car suffered a write off, I claimed directly from the other parties insurer, notified my own and there was no premium increase.

Plenty of evidence that it does happen

As I recall Ageas don't deny that this will happen but refused to consider it as they are a future cost.

Repair estimate £1,100, final offer £850

That doesn't really explain the situation.

Is this "final offer" to write off the car? Are you trying to insist on a repair rather than a write off? How much is the car worth (market value)? Have you had the repairs done? Did you get repair prices from more than one garage? Is you own policy comprehensive cover?
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

"I did once get them to admit they were required to place us back in the position before the accident happened..."

I assume your car is worth more than £850 so they are still wrong to deny you a repair costing £1,100. But their admission is not quite correct. If your car was only worth £850 that is the most you would get from them. That would put you back in the same position as you were pre-accident as you had only £850 worth of assets.

Ageas IS the other parties insurer.

That is the final option, I did mention this course of action to Ageas but they seemed quite happy to abandon the third party and let them defend and pay the claim.

They can't abandon their policyholder. They have a duty to indemnify them in accordance with their policy.
  • Just sue the policyholder; Ageas will pay up as not worth their time defending in court.

Write to them and tell them you will accept it as a payment on account of repair costs and your are still pursuing the £150.

Still issue for the £150 if they don!!!8217;t play ball. I would.
  • We will certainly push for the rest but I'm rather more circumspect about commencing procedings over £190 which may well have been thier intention when issuing the cheque
