Waving from Wales
Lots going on here today...New Legbar rooster (Rocky) coming to live with us. Already got him some pure-bred hens to be in charge of, so hoping he will be happy. Got to keep him and our Maran cockerel (Foggy) separate to avoid fights, so new boy is going in the orchard.
Didn't get much done yesterday and my friend came round at 9.30 am and stayed until 3pm! But I did have a site meeting with my architect and took delivery of the wet room tiles and adhesive. Got to check all is OK with that today and move to a more convenient place....All 300kgs of it...I may be some time...

Wish, wow! You have done a huge amount this week :T:T:T Enjoy your well-earned holiday!
I spent most of yesterday preparing for toddler group, running toddler group and visiting one of the young mums who didn't come to toddler group.
I took Rosie for a walk after tea and managed to work for about an hour before bedtime.
Today I must knuckle down to writing for at least the whole morning, and then we're supposed to be going out for lunch, if DH still feels up to it - if not, maybe tomorrow, unless DH has other plans.
I might just manage WMx1 if I put it on when I go down for breakfast.
I'm going to turn off FB, this thread and the BBC news website and put on some CDs so that I don't get distracted by words other than the ones I'm supposed to be concentrating on. Please give me a slap on the wrist if you catch me lurking here during the day - not hard enough to give me an excuse to stop typing, though!
Hope everyone has a good day. (((Hugs))) spoons and sticks to all in need xx0 -
Tonight!!!8217;s going to be a combination of washing the wheelie bin, putting the rubbish out, tidying the kitchen and bathroom and if there is any energy left after two loads of washing, one clothes one bed sheets il put my clean clothes away after I have made the bed, hmm.0

Hello all. Hope you're all ok.
I have done the dailies, one work shift (another later) and walked the dogs. One washload is on the line. Just about to do a mad half hour in the garden, then I'll have some lunch.Spend less now, work less later.0 -

Much £££ decluttered - F&V market, Morribunds for the stuff I couldn't get in @ldi 2 days ago, then Tosspots for the stuff I ouldn't get in Morribunds. Who knew it'd be nigh on impossible to get brown bread flour??
I also decanted this morning's bathwater into the watering can (using a 1-pint jug to scoop it up and pour it in) so that the parched and dehydrated front garden could be watered. Six watering cans full later, I felt like I needed another bath. :rotfl:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
We have just had a 5-minute shower of rain
- enough to dampen down the sandy soil and make everything small nice, but sadly not yet enough to get under the trees and shrubs. Better than nothing - and it's still pleasantly warm
Very pleased that I managed to write over 400 words of my essay this morning, which is one complete section and almost one-fifth of the total, so we went out for lunch at the forest cafe and had a pleasant walk so that Rosie could run off the calorific dog sausage that she had scoffed. (Actually, she begged beautifully for each piece and was totally well behaved.) We did a little bit of shopping on the way home, and I've had a quiet hour reading the paper and catching up with the news, emails and this thread.
Must go and cook tea now - rice, plus previously frozen cooked mince tarted up with a bit of chilli and some red kidney beans. I will carry on working this evening while DH is at wargames club, and he will also now be taking himself off out all day tomorrow, so I shall have a whole day of peace0 -
Thank you Ionafan, I am very pleased with what I've managed to achieve this week. I had two child free days, which I feel I used well and have single parented the rest of the week.
My final update of 'the list' now I've arrived in the lakes. Not really a holiday, hubby is working here so it's more like a temporary house move.

[Collapses on settee]
Thank Heavens that week is over. I think the list of jobs to do finally crossed from various human alphabets to hexadecimal numbering and well on the way to requiring a good knowledge of Klingon.
Went to a mate's folky music thing last night despite not really feeling like moving - in all honesty, I'd have been happy with a bath and bed but decided it would be good for me to go out for a change.
For the first time in ages, I spent most of the time laughing hysterically and playing various instruments Just for Fun, including having a go on a beautiful accordion and falling in love with the way that, after a few moments of faffing about with it, it felt as though it took a breath on its own. Yes, I know that sounds ridiculous, but there's no other way to describe it. I'm now waiting in hope for the usual thing that happens, where random instruments just appear as though they're waiting to be rescued.
I realised (again) just how much I miss playing music just for the sheer enjoyment of it.
Downstairs is looking relatively organised, albeit not sparkly clean, upstairs is - OK - and Himself has actually made progress with his shuffling items around ad infinitum to make the studio look less like a teenage boy's bedroom. Although I still can't get my head around persistently leaving Stuff on the spare bed, taking Stuff off the spare bed, then putting more Stuff on the spare bed. Just leave the darned thing available for use!
Himself is cooking a curry tonight and then we've got a bunch of 50s B movies to watch, as his weekend gig has been cancelled due to the Lead Singer sustaining a rather nasty hand injury last week. I'm sad for the guy, really - but I'm relieved Himself is around.
One more week to go. A punishing week, no doubt, but at least there's only one of them before I get six of the things off and I get to [strike]wake up at the crack of dawn every day because my body clock is screwed right up to the point where I have to return to work and I instantly start oversleeping[/strike] wake up naturally, go to sleep when I want, have naps, eat whatever I like and not have to worry about other people's children, bosses or work politics for a while.
The only cloud on the horizon is, yet again, rail strikes potentially destroying any chances of simple travel to Devon. I've already told Himself when he gets a job, he's getting a car because I am sick of this.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
