Value drill+drill bits

As I'll soon require to drill a hole in my soon to be delivered oak furniture land t.v. Cabinet.
I've searched and found a inexpensive drill from Argos@21 Uk pounds approx.
Are all drill pieces sets compatible with any drill, if not I'll need to purchase both drill+Pieces from Bosch (as an example at 55 for drill+7.99 for pieces
Unless an mser wants to recommend a suitable value drill with drill bits (for further home use)

You get regular bits and SDS bits.
SDS have quite an obvious difference when being fitted, you pull down a sleeve, slot the bit in and its clamps on. Regular bits tend to require more of a screwing motion as the chuck clams around the bit. Old school drills will have a key which needs turning to clamp down.
If youre buying a £21 drill it will be using regular bits. Regular bits dont say much about them on them, SDS bits will always have SDS on them.
In the interest of not spending £21+ for not a lot of drilling have you asked anyone you know if you could borrow theirs?0 -
Normally Argos have a drill special offer with their drills. The £20.99 cordless drill has a few drill bit offers one of which is £8.99. Need to check if it has the size bit you need,0

As advised 20.99 drill+8.99 bits.
T.v cabinet doesn't arrive until Monday possibly setup following weekend as I have re cycle current glass stand.
I check that the small single door display part can take router +Apple TV on top.

If you want a neat finish on the outside, drill from the outside.
If you are drilling large diameter holes in timber, you might want to consider using a flat or auger bit. Flat bits are cheaper. Auger bits give a better finish.0 -
If you do use a flat bit as advised above (and I would concur) drill part way through from one side and, as soon as the drill has started taking wood at the finished diameter and you can see the point of the drill break through, finish the drilling from the other side.0

Most have 2 inch (50mm) diameter holes to allow 13A plug tops and scart plugs (remember them anyone?) to pass easily through. Even the pics on the furniture site shows the holes in back panels!
OP: A link to the specific unit you are buying may help determine if it has no holes ... Or a call/email to CS, perhaps?
£21 saved (probably)!0 -

Can you not route all the cables at the rear?

When I viewed the unit last week it has one large hole in main shelf part.
There isn't any hole if I were to place my router and apple t.,v. -it has a glass door -no separate shelf, more of a display type glass door as part of the cabinet.
Thought I've make use of it with router and apple t.v. As I don't want to sit everything on top off Sky q which will take main part which has the hole.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted.
