It is great that you and your husband are so on the same page when it comes to finances/savings. I feel that it is a constant battle between dh and I. We are always pulling in the opposite direction. It means there is always a lot of resentment when it comes to where money has been spent :( I wish we could get the point you two are at.

I'm not sure we're exactly on the same page - we both have our splurging moments, but the point is that I do all of the money stuff and life admin in our house so he really doesn't have a clue about our day to day money situation. He knows how much debt we have and how much we earn but he couldn't even hazard a guess as to how much we spend on our bills or how much we spend on food etc. I take care of all of that.

If he's spending a reasonable amount of money on something, he'll generally check to make sure we have funds available and w try to talk about things in advance. But we're not perfect! Far from it, hence why we're in debt!

    BALANCE TRANSFER COMPLETE!!

Delighted to see that our balance transfer is now complete. £27.62 worth of interest was left on the card so i cleared that this afternoon, so the balance on that is now £0.

I need to register the new CC details on my online banking and set up a DD to make sure that doesn't fall by the wayside. I'll also need to update my figures with the new balance to make sure all is accurate.

I generally make a £60p/m payment to that card so i'll pay off £32.38 from the new card to round up to my £60 monthly payment.

My husband's wages (which came in two days late, as I'd expected!) were £73 more than I'd expected so transferred the £73 into the CC as an overpayment.

£500 also transferred into the savings account but £165 taken out to pay for part of the TKD planned spends so the savings account is sitting at £1836.13 now. Hoping for another £300 next week from husband's wages and £250 from our bills account for planned savings. £100 on Sunday when husband gets his wages from his other job and that will likely be us until 1st March when I can save part of the council tax money.

If only every month could look like this!

Just need my husband to send me the details for the new balance transfer credit card so i can set up a direct debit. I've asked him three times already... *eyeroll*

Two peas in a pot Kindofagilr! He still hasn't done it!

I haven't been around much over the weekend - been such a busy time and not really had much time for anything else. My poor husband was sick and unable to go on the stag do that was planned, he didn't decide until half an hour before he was picked up because he was still trying to make it but was just too sick. He was gutted but the only silver lining is that he didn't spend his EUR 230 so we won't change that back and it'll be kept by for our holiday spends.

£526.41 was paid to debt today so we are now up to £1706.44 since the start of the year. I'm hoping for another £100 before the end of the month but ill see how the accounts look.

Window man came round yesterday and measured up and discussed what we want. We also popped round to the supplier he buys from to take a look at what's on offer. Really hoping he comes back with a price that is manageable. We have an upper limit in mind so as long as it is below that I think we will go for it. Obviously the more below that the better!

We will also be doing our house renovations with him when the time comes and he advised us to start planning it asap. So we spent quite a bit of yesterday exploring ideas, sketching some things up and getting some loose plans. If we are thinking of mid- late next year then it'll need to get moving soon as drawings/ planning permission is required.

It's strange to me though- the builder won't quote without a drawing and spec but the architect needs to know what we want so he can draw it. But what if we spend loads getting it drawn up and then it's double what we wanted to spend?? Anyway, I'm sure we will get there. It's still early days.

Another busy week ahead but the end of the month is nigh - I know it's a short month but it has really flown in.

Hope you have a great week all!

We are shortening our hall to make our WC a cloaks/mini utility/WC. Then knocking our kitchen and dining room together to make one big kitchen, then knocking that through into our conservatory and either putting a proper roof onto the conservatory or knocking it down and replacing with a room.

We want to make it all one big open plan living space. Right now, we have original early 80s rooms and haven't done a lot since we moved in. It need a serious renovation so it's a big job! Literally every room in our house need a ripped right back to bare walls and floorboards and redone. But a lot of it isn't urgent. If we can get the windows and doors done then this big loving space renovation then the rest can be done as and when we have the funds.

The kids' rooms need done - especially the youngest who's room is still in a nursery set up. He'll be 4 in the summer so I'd like to sort that this year if I can.

There's always a massive list! I wonder if it'll ever end?

What a shame about your husband not being able to go on the stag do. Nice to see you looking on the positive side regarding the euros. :)

That's a lot of work you need to do on the house but it all sounds very exciting and something to look forward to. The way forward does sound a bit 'chicken and egg' doesn't it, but it must work out because plenty of people do it. It's a bit like selling a house. It amazes me how anybody ever moves with the 'do we look before we sell ours, look after we sell ours' dilema multiplied by however many people are in the chain :rotfl: But we all get there in the end and so will you with your building works.

Hope the window man comes back with a good price. I've got my fingers crossed it'll be lower than the figure you've got in mind. Have a great day. xx

It's easy for me to see the positive side Tea, when its not my trip that's been cancelled! Haha I did feel sorry for him...

You're right about the chicken and the egg - I suppose that's why architects make so much money because you have to go back and forth woth new iterations to fit into your budget haha

I'm very hopeful about the window man's quote and I'll be sorely disappointed if we aren't able to go ahead. It feels like we have been standing still for so long with this house that I jist want to start seeing progress, even if it's only 5% of all the work needing doing!

On the way home from work now, so plans for this evening include stripping the beds, making the beds, making lunch for hubby for the rest of the week and not much else!

Mondays tend to be the days where my BIL will drop in if he's in the area so I won't get into my comfies straight away just in case :)
