Oh yes kindofagilr, definitely think of the money! Take it while you can get it.
Husband's car was in yesterday being seen for a rattling noise and thankfully it was identified and fixed same day under warranty so no cost to us. Phew! I thought we'd need to pay something towards finding out what the problem is but no spend at all.
Off to start getting ready for a night out with friends. Hope it's not too expensive but we don't go out often so it's a worthwhile cost to me.Sealed Pot Challenge 075

Hubby's increase is still over £500 a year even without the overtime. That's a holiday
I hope you enjoyed your night out.If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Yes, a £500 per year increase isn't to be sniffed at DIA!
My night out was lovely, thanks. So cathartic hanging out with those ladies.

Managed a win with the shopping this week! Don't want to speak too soon in case we need a top up during the week but I'm pretty sure I have it all covered.
Aldi - £39.05
Iceland - £2
We still have three family sized portions of boneless chicken thighs in the freezer, two of which we will use for meals this week. Aldi also has a 1kg pack of 5% mince that I have never seen in there before for £5.19 So splitting that in half for a large lasagne and large cottage pie. We will be able to feed the four of us plus left over lunches for both husband and I for both meals.
Small spend of £7.20 on train fare for work today and not anticipating any other spends. Lunch is prepared and so are snacks so no reason to spend. Just as well because remaining money is tight!

You might remember i mentioned my phone company overcharging me for roaming charges (£40!) connecting to Norway when I was on a plane over the Atlantic on the way to the US for work? I complained about this charge last month and they agreed to refund me, since there was no way for me to know that my phone would randomly connect to a cell site in Norway!
Anyway, they agreed to credit it to my bill, so i'd be charged £40 less this month. However, my payment came out yesterday for my full monthly bill. After 20 minutes on live chat where the guy eventually said he isn't able to access the notes on my account from the call centre team (pointless!) then another 20 minutes on the phone going over and over it to the woman, who kept insisting my bill was right, they finally agreed to refund me the £40. This time, I have insisted that it is refunded to my bank account so I can keep an eye on it.
Frustrating way to start a morning, but at least it's sorted now.
Husband should be getting paid today...won't hold my breath!
Other than that, it's just same old same old.
Need to continue my epic productivity from yesterday. I got loads done and i want to keep the ball rolling on that front! There's still so much to do and so little time.
I booked the time off for my summer holiday this morning, so that gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. Something to look forward to.
Tonight's dinner is spag bol from the freezer since I'm gymming and my husband is footballing later. It's an easy-to-reheat dinner when each of us comes in from our workouts but means the kids can eat at normal time without there being multiple times cooking.
Relieved my husband's coin tray of £1.70 last night and deposited it in my sealed pot. Just in case anyone is wondering, all of our money is joint (except birthday/ Christmas money of course) so it means i'm not nabbing 'his' money, I'm just skimming our money.

Miraculously, my husband was paid! Not that it makes a difference, because it's all allocated, but it's nice to see money coming into the account at least and not worrying he won't be paid before the next bills come out. Especially as we're nearing the end of lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng January.
The phone company said to expect 5-10 working days for the refund so i won't hold my breath for that either. It'll be nice when it comes in though. And if we manage without it ok then I'll pay that straight into the credit card as an overpayment.
This weekend
Thankfully my husband is working all weekend which means two things - 1) he'll be making some extra money and 2) he won't be around to encourage spending or suggest things that cost! My plan is to take the kids to their clubs (already paid so no spent), visit the grandparents (no spend) and play in the house with some of the Christmas toys the kids haven't had a chance to play with yet. If it's dry, we will go to the park for a walk. I'll also need to be super creative with the meal plan and shopping list for next week. I managed to do it for £41.05 this week and I don't want to spend much more than that next week either.Sealed Pot Challenge 075

Hissy fit on hold
Almost threw a hissy fit tonight!
Logged onto the online banking and noticed the credit card was almost £100 higher than it should be. Clicked through and there was a purchase in there! Could only have been my husband since it wasn't me.
I've had a horrid day, so was gearing up for giving him a real hard time when he got in. When he walked in the door he reminded me of this job he has on this weekend. The one that I just talked about in my post above. The one which he needs materials for to complete... then the penny dropped!
So glad he rambled on about that before I could embark on my hissy fit.
Now I'm sitting here feeling quietly guilty
Those spends will be paid off as soon as my husband is paid for the job (hopefully in the next week).Sealed Pot Challenge 075
