  • You're doing some fab potting homegrown and getting up straight away is great!

With regards to using up leftover wine, I don't think it affects dry jan as the alcohol is 'cooked' off! That's my excuse. Both my children prefer my spag Bol to their nan's abd friends. The eldest says it's down to the "oaky cask flavour" oh dear....she's 14!

    Hi Homegrown!

I'm bad at getting up in the morning, I must say, so your getting out of bed as soon as the alarms sounds impresses me greatly! (I doubt it has anything to do with my late bedtimes...)

Surveys annoy the life out of me for the same reason.

Congratulations on having just over a year to pay on your loan and I'll stop by at a more sociable hour for a proper chat! :D

Hi PB - thanks for stopping by! I'm really not a morning person, so it is quite a wrench getting myself out of bed most mornings. That's why I want to give this a try - struggling to get up leads to running around like a headless chicken and pushing the kids out the door with half eaten toast hanging out their mouths. It's just not a good way to start the morning! So i figured that even if i get up earlier just so that I can have a coffee and wake up in peace before I get the kids up, it's better than what I was doing before. Although I was up at 5.30 this morning fora gym class so i feel like it's bedtime already, not lunchtime!

Wow - what a sophisticated palletfor a 14 year old! Glad to hear they prefer yours :) I'm not a culinary genius by any stretch of the imagination, but my nephew always goes on about my fish pie, so must be doing something right. I do love a good old spag bol :)

I also work best when I write down something that runs out immediately. I keep a list on my fridge and just add to it if I think something is low, I then transfer it to my shopping list or bullet journal.

I do this as well, I have a magnetic board on my fridge and write down stuff as soon as I run out xx

Potted funds: £1.50 last night into sealed pot
    Days until payday:21
    Loan payments left: 13
Nursery payments left: 19 (seems crazy to count this as my youngest doesn't go to school until Aug 2020 but seeing it like this makes it seem so much more manageable/ the end is in sight!)

Not much to report today - I was up at 5.30am for a gym class this morning and it was tough going. Second day back to it after a couple of weeks off so my body already aches. It's also 1.36pm and I feel like it's bedtime zzz...

Motivation is at an all time low, but i need to get cracking. So much to do, so little time!

We booked the travel for our summer holiday this morning - the countdown is now on. It's terrible; I've only been back at work for two and a half days after being off for two weeks for Christmas and I feel desperate to be off again. I think it's more to do with the fact that I'm tired, busy at work and have a stinking cold. Craving sunshine and warmth more than anything.

Not a lot happening money-wise this week. Next week is when the bigger payments will be made as well as some overpayment so I'm just coasting for now.

My husband is going to look at two jobs after work tonight and has a third to look at on Saturday so they may yield some additional funds at some point in the near future.

Quite a bit of meal prep to be done tonight so I'm hoping to get finished sharp so that I can start early and get it all out of the way. It's rubbish not getting to sit down until later at night so trying to sort that as much as possible. In the spirit of getting on, i'd best post this and get back to some work!

We have an app called Family Calendar that has a calendar, shopping lists, other lists of things, reminders etc. It syncs to both of our phones so it keeps us right with most things. We've become a bit lax with it in the last few weeks when the meal planning went out the window over Christmas so i'm trying to re-implement that.

My husband moaned the other day that there were no choc ices in the freezer - were they on the shopping list? No? Sorry - my crystal ball is broken. Maybe he'll put them on the list? :rotfl:

Morning all! Hope everyone is having a good week?

Rest day for me today, which is just as well because my muscles are killing me! My body is punishing me for treating it woth reckless abandon over the festive period.

My cold has also got worse and I feel terrible this morning.

Lots on today, so nothing else for it but to power through. I'd quite like to just go back to bed though!

Off to the chiropractor this morning to resume treatment thst i postponed in October due to work travel and never got around to rescheduling... must get it sorted because it could save me a lot of pain if I stick to im the treatment for 6 weeks.

I had problems with my catalogue account this month - I opened it to purchase two Christmas presents in a sale and tried to make the payment in December. Even though it said transaction approved etc I got a text last week to say payment was overdue. Checked my bank and my catalogue account and the money hadn't come out. So last week I tried to pay again and again, my transaction was complete and it thanked me for my payment.

On Monday I got a letter in saying I was now in arrears (despite our debt levels I've never been in arrears with anything!) And they had applied 2x £13 late payment fees for the two 'missed' payments.

Anyway, I spoke to someone at length yesterday who couldn't reverse the late payment fees so I asked for a manager to call me back. He did last night and thankfully he agreed to remove the charges that they placed on my account.

It really riles me that they will add fees to your account at the drop of a hat even when it's not your fault and it's a total rigmarole to sort it out. I've had problems with this company before but for a different reason and I always say I won't order from them again but I'm a sucker for a bargain.

Anyway glad I managed to avoid £26 worth of charges and the account is now settled.

  • Well done in getting the charges refunded but it all takes time doesn't it. I hate that their mistakes take away our time!

Hope your cold goes away. Don't push through too hard today if you are feeling a bit unwell :)

Yes, you're right. It's the time that it takes (normally during my working day) that drives me up the wall. Also, if i'd just spoken to the manager in the first place, it'd have taken 5 minutes to solve. Instead, i was passed round the houses, explained my issue to multiple people then was told there was nothing they could do about it. Frustrating, but I'm glad it's sorted and i don't need to think about it anymore.

Thanks for the well wishes too - I have a ton of things to do so have prioritised so that if i'm still feeling lousy later, some things can be pushed until tomorrow. One urgent thing done already, four more to go!

I need to take a look at home insurance - renewal date is 19th and I haven't even looked at the renewal price compared to my current policy, so adding that to the list for tomorrow (today is already jam packed).

Ooh, correction - home insurance renewal date is 13th so tomorrow has to be the day I sort it! Just did a quick comparison and the closest price I can get to what I'm paying just now is £4p/m more than I'm paying now and £2 less than the renewal price, so might call Admiral and see if there's anything they can do about the price. Even if they can match what it was last year, i'll be happy.

There's only one decent cashback offer, so i'll check the price on that tomorrow and if it's not worth my while then i'll call Admiral.

    There's always something to do!

Just back from the chiropractor and I. AM. SORE. It's worth it though. Back again in two weeks...£35 paid today and same again in two weeks. It's an expensive game but I'm hoping that after six sessions it'll have helped. Must also do my home exercises to give myself the best chance.

Off to grab a bite to eat, stick my lunch in the microwave and put a washing on before getting the rest of today's work done.

Hi I also have around £10.000 worth of debt I have done the eligbility checker for a 0% balance transfer and the only card I am eligable for is capital one which I already have although not on 0%, I dont have problems paying my debt its just going to take me forever and I am having to work extra hours which are not always available! to make re-payments , I have considered contacting capital one to see if I transfer all my debt to them if they would allow me the 0% balance transfer ??? Can anyone advise please.
