Struggling with my monthly catalogue payments on ESA

All of our calls and texts are free on our mobiles. With talk talk they are redoculous amounts per minute. We both need our phones. He needs his to contact his drug worker aswell as his other medical people he has to see.
We are both due upgrades in November so we will see what deals they have to offer.
There is absolutely no need to upgrade just because you can. You will have paid for the phone so will only have the package charge to pay for so that will save you some money. Even if it's only a few pounds a month it all matters given the financial problems you have. When I came to the point of an upgrade being available my phone was still working perfectly OK and I saved nearly £20 per month by not changing. You really do need to get your priorities right, and a new phone should not be one of them.0 -
Get my priorities right?! Lol
I didn!!!8217;t penalise myself for having an iPhone someone else layer into me for that! Everyone knows technology only lasts for the amount of time a contract does, it!!!8217;s been 2 years for me and already I!!!8217;m having to charge this phone up to 3 times a day because tu battery has gone on it- my OH phone is even older as it was my old phone to start with so he!!!8217;s constantly charging his/ can!!!8217;t even take it out without it dying on him!
Our phones are our lifelines. We both don!!!8217;t go out cos of our mental health problems- he only goes out to see his healthcare professions, he uses his to speak to his kids everyday he!!!8217;s not with them and for paying the ex each month. and I use mine for food shopping and bill paying, emailing as I don!!!8217;t call people due to my anxiety. We both need phones that we can rely on and won!!!8217;t die after 5 seconds of being off charge!
I don!!!8217;t even know why I!!!8217;m still having to justify myself over having an iPhone 5s lol it!!!8217;s not like I!!!8217;m paying £80 a month for the latest model!0 -
You don't need to justify having a bl00dy iPhone. If you want advice on the catalogues go over to the dfw forum.0

Have you considered the cost of just replacing the batteries? Using your existing phone and going for a SIM only package can provide surprising savings. Ultimately, we're (most of us), just offering suggestions of ways for you to possibly save money, not criticise you.0

I did say my phone was working fine at the end of the contract and the OP didn't say anything about a problem with their phone, just they they were looking to upgrade. My point was the same as that being made by pmduk, that a SIM only deal can save a considerable amount of money.0

No, the technology lasts as long as the phone lasts, nothing to do with the length of the contract. It's nothing , not nothink.0 -
And I!!!8217;m saying my phone isn!!!8217;t lasting lol0

Dont't get a brand new phone just because it needs a £5 battery replaced!

I will look into this, but that isn!!!8217;t an official apple product/battery. Everyone knows you shouldn!!!8217;t put replicas in iPhones as it has a history of making the phone malfunction or not work at all. So I will see about an official apple battery.0

If you don't go out at all, surely you can leave them plugged in most of the time except when using them, or even use them when plugged in? That's what I do with my elderly mobile and it works well.
If you went out a lot, that could be a reason for getting a more reliable phone but, in your case, it doesn't really seem necessary.0
