    There are clearly people 'trying it on' in claiming missold PPI when it wasn't and that is very much to the detriment of those who were actually missold and should be condemned, not applauded. IMHO they are no better than the claims management companies.

    As already mentioned, many of those people are in thrall to the Claim Companies who exaggerate the possibility of claims by lying about PPI being added without the knowledge and permission of the customer.

    As I've said before - this is a money saving website not a fraudulently submitting PPI, packaged bank account, charges website.

    Those of you still unsure about Martin Lewis intentions, need to consider that hyperbole generates interest that generated selling this site for millions of pounds. Fine, bring matters to peoples attention and I applaud him for certain publications but to show consistent bias ensures credibility is lost. Board Guides should not be stating their opinion as fact e.g. 'If anyone was money grabbing, it was 100% the banks, who blatantly lied to there customers on a massive scale'. There is no place on any forum for such guides - in my opinion.

    I put in a claim last August on a Debenhams and Evans card and received £18.000 in May. They did tell me in March they were delayed and I could go to the Financial Obsbudman but they asked if they could follow it through. Glad I waited .

    £18,000 (as in eighteen thousand pounds) for 2 store cards? Or did you mean £18 or £180?

    Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

    People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

    You should address your concerns to MSE if you feel so strongly.

    (I doubt you'll get anywhere, however, since you've totally misunderstood the role of a Board Guide on this forum. Can I refer you to my earlier reply? You obviously think Board Guides are MSE Moderators. Board Guides are unpaid volunteers, not paid members of MSE staff. They can post any opinion they want, just as long as they adhere to forum rules)

    Please stop saying I have misunderstood the role of the Board Guide. Guides are there to keep things on topic and continually showing bias keeps to their own agenda and not in the spirit of being a board guide in my opinion.
    My final word on this (off topic) subject is to quote the MSE forum guide which basically contradicts everything you have said on this thread;
    "Please remember the Board Guides are just ordinary forum users who've volunteered to help out the site and are doing what the MSE Team has asked them to do. They do an excellent job of keeping the forum wheels turning, but are not paid. They are not responsible for the site and have no say in policy decisions.

    If you've a question about a Board Guide's choices, first read the site's Terms and Conditions and these FAQs. If you're still unsure why they did something or you feel the Forum Team should be aware, please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com. Don't question a Board Guide on the forum, or it will be removed."

    "It's important to remember anything on the forum is the opinion of the person posting only. In no way does it reflect MoneySavingExpert's opinions or attitudes."

    Hi folks

    To clarify, board guides are forumites like all others and have their own opinions. Like all forumites we wouldn't tell them what to think and welcome different opinions provided they don't break Forum Rules.

    Let's get the discussion back to the original topic now.

    Thanks!

    Andrea :)
