  • I read you diary regularly and am sorry to hear about the latest problems you are having regarding your new house. You did seem so unhappy about moving there so maybe this is just an opportunity to think about looking for something else. You seem quite isolated and alone where you live. Is there no possibility of you moving closer to your family? Sorry if these are not possibilities but sometimes things turn out better than we could imagine even though it doesn't seem like it at the time. I do hope things work out well for you.

Well at least you had a look though, and you know it was a definite no, rather than spending time wondering what might have been. Sorry it wasn't a goer.

Yes, I'm glad I saw it and could put the 'what if's' to bed.
I would have been kicking myself otherwise.

Thank you for stopping by and posting Moneywhizz.

Unfortunately a move closer to family is not an option due to work and the price of property (it's close to double the price compared to where I am now!). I wish it was an option though.

I'm hoping this turns out to be one of those 'blessings in disguise' moments. Just waiting for the blessing to show up sometime soon!

Well, I'm back to plan A again, potentially purchasing the new house which is being rebuilt. Today I've requested that they either reduce the selling price of the house or pay for the extras such as flooring, fencing, blinds etc which would have cost the best part of £6k. Criminal really isn't it. We'll see what they say. In the meantime, I'll continue to look at properties if anything suitable comes onto the market.

It's DS's birthday soon and so I've spent a fair bit of money on buying his gifts as well as a cheap weekend break away for OH and I for HIS birthday (a premier inn special, I spoil him!).
All has been accounted for within the gifts budget, but it's looking vastly depleted now and will need to be built up. Thankfully there are no major birthdays for a little while after these.

I took some YS mince out of the freezer last night and prepped some potatoes to make a cottage pie for DS, myself and OH tonight. My freezer is full to bursting so I am making a conscious effort to use things up from it and make some space.

DS has requested toad in the hole for tomorrow, so I will get some sausages out of the freezer tonight and make a big dish of that for the three of us tomorrow. :)
    I almost sound organised...

Hope you get a good response from them... the stress they've caused alone should make them Happy to help!
Great idea to keep looking for other houses... you never know your luck. ((hugs)) X
    I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy

Yesterday was one of those days...

Troubles began with a very poor and arrogant response from the developers, followed by several emails to and fro, finishing with me telling them I'm considering pulling out of the sale due to all of their failings. They subsequently replied with a one-liner basically telling me that's my choice and to let them know within the week.
That company is just horrendous to deal with, although they're not exactly known for their good builds and customer service, (more for their ridiculous bonuses to the MD's ;)), I never expected it to be this poor, especially when a vast amount of money is being exchanged.

I am looking at another house today. Vastly overpriced, but even the agent has agreed and has said the vendor priced it and is aware they will not reach anything near that figure. The world has gone mad.

I then had a phonecall from DS's school at lunchtime to say he'd had an accident and needed picking up. :( My poor boy was sat in the school office with wads of bloody cotton wool held to his mouth and a fat lip. What followed was 3 hours of trying to get hold of emergency dentists, NHS direct and a 40 mile round trip to get him seen to.
It also resulted in a huge row with DS's father who I think was trying to help, but in his usual careless manner and arrogant attitude, made everything twenty times worse and more stressful than it needed to be.
Thankfully DS is fine now though and it could have been a lot worse. I'm just thankful that he's ok.

Goodness, I hope today is better. I felt seriously defeated by everything by last night.

Thank you SuffolkSue. Unfortunately renting's not really an option - the rental prices would just eat away into the savings for the house. Rent is so expensive round here and I'd have to put so much into storage too. :(
