Some Three SIM contracts include unlimited use of the TV Player app, which doesn't eat up the data. The offer is called "Go Binge".
A 12GB, unlimited mins and texts, 30 day rolling SIM with Go Binge is £23/month. See: http://www.three.co.uk/Store/SIM/Plans_for_phones
Obviously check coverage and cancel after your stay.0 -
Having started this thread, I suddenly thought I would look at the Hospedia website and found that in fact senior citizens can get a week of of five channels - which my relative is fine with - for £20 although there is no discount for multiple channels. The operator told me it is available !!!8220;on request!!!8221; !!!! Obviously he could not reply when I said what if one does not know about it and therefore cannot request it. Apparently they only take date of birth for !!!8220;security reasons!!!8221; !!!0

Wouldn't a PAYG sim be a better option short term? It looks even cheaper than the 30 day contract and there's no problems trying to cancel a contract afterwards.Pay As You Go rates on Three.
Our Pay As You Go rates for data are unbeatable.
Our rates for data Add-ons:
1GB for £10
5GB for £15
12GB for £20
30GB for £25
All-you-can-eat for £35
Our rates for calls, texts and
30GB appears to be £25 for 30 days.
I found the information at http://www.three.co.uk/Store/Pay_As_You_Go_Price_Plans0 -

The point of my mentioning the Three 30 day contract SIM was that it included unlimited TV viewing via their "Go Binge" feature (with the TV Player app)... which isn't included in PAYG.0 -
Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, has free wi-fi
Does yours?
Just been visiting a friend in Doncaster Royal Infirmary... noticed they had free WiFi for patients and visitors. However, and particularly with regard to the OP wanting a means of watching TV, this site's free WiFi blocks access to Radio Player, TV Player and VPN access.
While I appreciate that their bandwidth would suffer from lots of users watching videos, blocking Radio Player and VPN access was a bit annoying. I didn't try Skype.
The good point was that access didn't require "registration".
Bottom line is not to get too excited about free hospital WiFi...0 -
It would be better if the hospital didn't supply internet access to patinets!
In my local, the staff and patients share the same hospital WiFi connection and you often see patients watching youtube or movies which means staff have a rubbish experience when the want to use it for work related stuff on the wards (eg mobile app which NHS encourages them to use for clinical work) as all the bandwidth is taken up by patients watching movies!0
