As title really. What on earth do I get someone who has everything they need. She is financially fine, has moved into a small flat in supported accommodation , doesn’t actually ‘need’ anything to be fair.
At 90 it shouldnt be about need anyway but more about bringing a smile etc or a nice experience. It’s a friend of my mother.
I had thought about paying for someone to come to her and giving her a nice foot and leg massage, Mum seems to think she wouldn’t like this, but I think my mum thinks in terms of what she would like and not her friend.
Any ideas or what has worked for similar situation appreciated.
Thanks.

Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Grandparent used to like going out. She didn't drive and didn't want to do things on her own. If I recall, I took her to her first (and only) opera. She was glad she'd had the experience even if it wasn't something she wanted to do again. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

She loves coming to me as I live by the beach, loved walking along the prom , the fish and chips and ice-cream, but not sure she’s physically up for that at the moment.
Hmmm...food for thought though, there could be something in her area that I could take her to.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
A proper, posh afternoon tea for the three of you - somewhere nice where you can all dress up.0

Could she manage it if you rented/borrowed a wheelchair for her0 -

Possibly not to be fair bless her. However she may perk up and that would be possible. It’s not really a birthday pressie though as would do that anyway .
It deffo needs to be about an experience of some sort thinking about it though.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
I had this problem on Mothers' day after my Mum had been diagnosed with terminal cancer - I bought her a David Nieper nightdress, they are very elegant and indulgently luxurious (not cheap!). Also very comfortable. She loved it, especially as almost every carer or nurse complimented her on them. We bought four eventually so she could have clean one every day. Different scenario I know, but might be an idea?I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. How about a newspaper from the day she was born ( If she doesn't already have one?!).
I like your pampering idea. Maybe a manicure if she doesn't want to get her legs out. The afternoon tea idea is lovely too. At that age an experience might be nicer than physical items.0
