    To answer the questions

After the appalling service the last few days, could the management at least inform people how long downtime is likely to last? Glib statements like
"MoneySavingExpert.com has been attacked. We're fighting back, but it may mean slowness & glitches." are almost worthless.

It'll be up and running as quickly as possible. Sorry if you think this is glib; its all I know; we've all been workign solid to get it up and running. My team, my server team, our technical advisers - everyone. This has been a massive attack and we've got the site up. We always constantly tweak and improve and this is no different. My webmaster has been on line helping individuals and has hardly slept for four days.

I cant make promises. Actually the sites running really well for most people; but users from some ISP/IPs are still having major problems. Thank you for your concern though.

Are users details safe? or have they been compromised?

    A. Security compromised? Well quite deliberately MSE doesn't data mine. The only info we have that isn't publically available (e.g. like your user profile) is the email addresses that people sign up to the forum or the e-mail list with. There's little security breach possible. Yet to answer your question; no, as far as we're aware security hasn't been compromised. Our servers are actually with a security specialist, so that would be very unlikely. This wasn't a hack attack it was a 'bring 'em down' attack.

Should I expect lots of spam to the address I used to sign up to the money tips?

No more than you usually get

What are you doing to stop this happening again?

    Everything possible.

What are the recommended actions for users concerned about their accounts and potential identity theft?

Again there is nothing to be concerned about; we only hold people e-mails, so even if there had been a breach; which there hasn't, there's no identity thefty possible.

This is a deliberate policy, we don't data mine at all. The only info someone can know about you from this site is what you post on the open forum.

    All the best
