Ok, so just went through the closing down sequence but instead of shut down, I clicked on "sleep". Turned power off at wall. Noticed the button I press to start up, was flashing. However, when I pressed it, the laptop didn't require sign in.

I am now wondering why they have this feature of "sleep" which in effect is an alternative to shut down, only it hasn't shut down.
The main difference between sleep, hibernate and shutdown is sleep places your work and settings into memory then goes to sleep but still draws power. Hibernate essentially saves all your work in an area on your hard drive then shuts off but can quickly then be quickly restarted where you left off. Shut down does what it says on the tin and completely shuts down the computer.

So now I'm unsure what to do. It's obvious that I'm not going to succeed with this, so I'm wondering if I should be considering a factory re-set.

I had a similar prob with a new laptop tried all sorts so I would not have to input a pin, so i did a factory reset and when setting up accounts, when it asks you for a pin/password leave it blank, bingo no longer asks for a pin.
ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.

You know what, I might just do that. Tomorrow I will Google factory reset for up w10, can't think of model number as I'm in bed.
