Air bags and smart phones

I didn't say they weren't, I'm questioning why a parent would give a baby/toddler a smartphone to play with in the first place, smacks of the "plonk in front of the glowing box" school of parenting rather than giving kids books or other such learning resources
You aren't a parent are you?
I would have been of exactly the same school of thought until having kids.
Not saying kids should have them all the time and should be limited but tablets and smartphones have their place. My 3 year old has actually learned a lot from the limited time she is allowed it.0 -

When an airbag is switched off the air compressor can still be activated during a high impact accident.
Where have you got this information?
I'm sure if an airbag had gone off in an accident, whilst it was turned off and there was a baby in the front,it would have been headline news.0 -

Not to mention, in the specific example given in this thread, the kind of heavy cardboard paged book you'd give to a small child wouldn't be much more forgiving were it launched facewards by the airbag3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). Airbags are inflated by an explosive charge.
Apologies for not having English as a first language.0 -

The first thing that went through my mind was "Bollox, this isn't survivable". Then I watched the airbag slowly emerging from the steering and thought "Airbag. I might have a chance."
What went through your mind?
To tell you the truth, it happened so quickly I don't think anything did. All I remember is being propelled into the dashboard (I was a passenger), the windscreen shattered and the airbag detonated. After that, my first thought was that my sister (the driver) was okay. Car was an instant write-off and if it wasn't for wearing seatbelts, we both would have been through the windscreen. Paramedics and police couldn't believe we walked away with a few bruises and scratches.0
