Some child seats are rear facing and there are restrictions on the suitability of children sitting in the front of a vehicle, when it has airbags.
I know airbags are very fast and powerfull, I was wondering what other guidance there is when sitting a vehicle fitted with airbags.

You should wear your seatbelt and not crash your car (And not use your smartphone whilst driving).0

Anything that the passenger is holding or using could be catapulted into them. This could be a smartphone, tablet, book, can or bottle of drink etc.sevenhills wrote: »Passenger playing games on their smart phone or similar, when the airbag goes off the smart phone will be catapulted into the user.
I've never read any reports of it happening but I wonder if there have been any serious injuries caused when cigarette or pipe smokers have been involved in accidents and the airbag pushed the cig or pipe into their face.
I would imagine that a lit pipe would certainly be a bit painful if it got pushed into your face at the 100mph+ speed an airbag deploys at.0 -
This is why you should also never pick your nose whilst sat in the front seats.0

Thinking about how I hold my mobile in the car (as a passenger of coarse), I think it would be too low to be a big issue.
What is more concerning is the people I see, usually women and usually, I assume, on longer journeys, who sit with their feet up on the dashboard. That's going to hurt if it goes wrong :eek:0 -
Having been in a 60mph car crash myself, the airbags detonating and your phone being thrown through the air is going to be the last thing on your mind.0

child in rear facing seat in the front then turn the airbag off simple0

Why would a child so young (yes some kids are small, don't be a pedant) as to need a safety seat have a smart phone to play with?
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Why not? Kids from very young ages are adept at smartphone use0
