If I was single and didn!!!8217;t own my own home I would seriously consider living in a van. £1000 a month saved on conventional living could get you a very nice van and more money saved for retirement.0

Why can't you live in a motorhome/caravan when retired?
What difference does retirement make?Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -

"Not allowed to live in a vehicle on the road" oh please! What about lorry drivers that sleep in the cab over night in lay bys?
If I was getting major building work done and sleeping in a caravan outside was the cheapest option then I wouldn't think twice about it.
This forum gets so pedantic about every tiny rule/law that are non issues.0 -
Probably a caravan.AndyMc..... wrote: »So where you going to live when retired?0 -

Why would it be ok if he remained single ?
I know numerous couples who fulltime in their motorhomes, some work on caravan sites in the spring/summer and then go to Europe over winter others have normal jobs but move around when required.
They are also not of retirement age either.0 -
Fulltiming in motorhomes dates back to the 1960s in the UK. Mostly retired couples in those early years, living in relatively small vans, most common being the Bluebird Highwayman, coachbuilt conversion on the BMC J2 chassis and later the Commer PB 1500If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

How does that work with regards having an official address, for banks, gov etc. Did they still keep a 'bricks and mortar' home too?
Curious. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)0 -
