Motorhome to solve short term accommodation

Hi
I’m planning on extensive home improvements and instead of spending around £10k on a six month letting while the builders are in, wondered if buying a motorhome might make more sense.
At least we could recover some of this costs by selling it when we no longer need it. Unfortunately there’s no scope for a caravan as we need to be fairly local to our suburban house.
We’ve considered buying a motorhome anyway for leisure.
Is this folly or should we stick with plan A and find a flat to rent?
Thanks.

You are not allowed to 'live' in any vehicle on the road, so if its going to be off-road, a caravan would have much more space.
I would guess temporary acomodation in a caravan is allowed off-road.

If the driveway is within the curtilage of the house it would be off road
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Have you got a link to back up that claim?

So how do you drive a vehicle when you’re dead?

I've seen someone local do that, with a 6-berth static "mobile" home, and a shipping container for their furniture etc. It may have been OK here in the SE, but you wouldn't want to do it further north.

I've found a six-berth OK for two people for a fortnight in the sun, but far too cramped for an extended period. Unless you're on your own, a (much smaller) motorhome sounds like a marriage breakdown - or murder - waiting to happen.

Perhaps my thinking was wrong. Its down to the discretion of your local council. I have seen signs about no over-night stays in certain places, seaside towns, car parks etc

You would be really surprised at the number of people that “full time” in their motorhomes. Some people go on sites others wild camp.
There are a lot of groups on Facebook that would give you help and advice.

The thing with a Motorhome is once you have filled up with water you are fully contained, we go away for months on end in ours and we know a numbe4 of couples that live in theirs.

We used to have these signs in lay bys but council were challenged and ruling went against them.
