My landlord (grandad) hasn't paid an invoice

Righ, so I've rented from my grandad for six years. About four months ago we fell out (he's mentally and emotionally abusive). In April we had no hot water or heating, so we got the plumber in to do our immersion. We received the invoice a week or so later, I then gave this to my grandad with a note that it needed paying. Ive received a letter today from the plumber to say they haven't been paid
The invoice was in my name with the rental property address on, I've emailed them this evening to ask the to send the invoice directly to my grandad and to get my name taken off of it.
I'm so angry, there aren't words, I know he's done it to spite me
If he continues to be difficult about paying, can the plumber come after me? We're in the process of getting a mortgage etc and I'm freaked I could end up with a blemish against my name
I know I'm probably over worrying, but any thoughts would be appreciated

Can you not pay the invoice and withhold "rent" for the amount?0

Strictly speaking
* it was not for you to get a plumber in unless you had followed a precise process. see Shelter guide here.
* you instructed the plumber, not your landlord, so you must pay him. Yes, the plumber can 'come after' (sue) you
* your landlord could refuse to re-imburse you since you did no follow due process.0 -
I think if you have rented from an abusive family member for 6 years, you must either have had a good financial deal, or you have let things slide that should have been addressed ages ago.I know I'm probably over worrying, but any thoughts would be appreciated
Don't stop paying the rent, do pay the bill that has your name on it, and then try to sort things out calmly with Grandad like the adult you are.0 -
We've always paid for nearly everything, we've had a plumber out before and always just forwarded the invoice and he's paid it. He knew we didn't have hot water or heating and knew we were getting a plumber in to fix it0

It was a mixture of things, the house is next door to my parents and due to my health needed to be near them, so we swallowed any crap we received from my grandad. Things reached boiling point early this year, so we've decided to buy a house.0 -
Pay the bill, the man needs his money
If you're going to be moving out, deduct the invoice from the plumber from your last rental payment and put it in writing why there's a shortfall....0 -

Should I pay it now though or wait to see what they say when they've received my email? If they change the invoice to my grandad won't it then be his responsibility?0 -
As above. Your dispute with your grandad is not the plumbers fault. He has a business to run. You employed him, you pay him.0

But I employed him after gaining my grandads permission? Surely who placed the call isn't the decider on who's responsible?0
