The only issue here is that you've got a BG maintenance contract! And they sold you it despite having a new boiler because the person on the phone gets commission for that sale.
It's not just boiler cover though.

There is very little to a new boiler service, taking the front cover off for a visual inspection and analysing the flue gasses is all they will do. Nothing will get taken apart.

Best keep BG contract, let BG inspect your new boiler (they may find installation defects from the eco aid installer, its not unusual) If they find installation defects ask BG for a repair quote and go back to the eco company and see what they say.

BG service will involve , if not already fitted

    A carbon monoxide alarm

    A magnetic sludge filter

And as I had the above the latest one is a calcium remover ( I pointed out the little water softener I already had fitted in the same room )

Obviously all fitted at a bargain price by BG

Sorry to intrude on the original post, but I am thinking of taking out similar cover with BG so am curious, did they insist on you having these things and then made you pay? Also, do you mind me asking what they charged you as I am pretty sure I don't have those and would end up paying for them too?

You'll need annual services in order for the warranty to stand. Granted its odd you need it so early. Personally I got a boiler installed by an independent accredited fitter and got a long warranty, and didn't bother with cover at all.

As said already, the "service" on a new boiler will involve them taking the front cover off, analysing flue gases, and probably not a lot else. The engineer will realise it's a new boiler and probably not bother too much. They will insist on a magnetic filter and ensure everything meets current standards. If you did need an engineer in an emergency (even new boilers can break down), you'll probably want to call British Gas as they'll have someone out to you usually quicker than the boiler manufacturer (in my experience).

Having said all of that, if you don't want or need the boiler cover, but have to have it because of the rest of the HomeCare agreement cover, then refuse them to look at your boiler. They simply won't cover your boiler but happily take your money for the cover. It's possible they may cancel your agreement, but I doubt it. I really don't see the problem with them looking at the boiler though - I wouldn't worry too much.

They will be there less than 5 mins & I doubt very much if the cover comes off, for your info if it goes wrong under warentee either BG will do it or WB will your installer won't
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

I have a carbon monoxide alarm, although the installers put on their gas safe form that I didn't have one! I don't know about a magnetic sludge filter. Something was added to the system, I do know that.

No, I already had a maintenance contract with them for boiler cover & service, along with the other things mentioned. I phoned to cancel the repair/parts & labour, saying I just wanted to keep the annual service, electrical, plumbing and appliances, but they said I wasn't able to keep the others without having the repair/parts & labour too. I managed to get the price down so I'm happy with that.

I've been told by the boiler manufacturer and the installers that if there's a problem within the two year guarantee period that I have to call them out and not British gas, which is annoying as I'd rather go down that path.
