B Gas want to service my brand new boiler

I had a new boiler fitted under the Eco scheme in February as my existing was on its last legs.
I have a servicecare cover with British Gas, which includes boiler cover, electrics, plumbing & drains and appliances. I tried to cut out the 'boiler repair' side of the cover as I have a 2 year guarantee with my new boiler for repairs, but I have to keep it if I want to keep the others - electrics, plumbing etc. Fair enough, I managed to get a good price when negotiating so I'm happy with that.
However, I've now received a call from British Gas to say they need to service my boiler - even though it's only 4 months old - if I want to keep boiler cover with them. I find that strange. When I queried it, the person went off to double check and came back and said they need to know they can get the parts. It's a brand new Worcester Bosch!
Does anyone know if this is correct? I didn't really want someone taking apart my new boiler so soon after having it installed.
TIA.

Was the boiler fitted by British Gas? If not then that's why they need to check what they are committing to covering.0

Did you tell BG you were having a new boiler installed. BG will need to carry out their usual checks, insurance reasons.
A new replacement boiler is considered a material change,a new contract may be required but it all depends on what sort of contract is already in position.
The visiting bg tech will be happy to sell you a new contract !0 -

No it wasn't, but when I phoned to update my contract I told them I had a new boiler fitted and it wasn't mentioned to me then that I'd need it serviced by B Gas.Money, money, money, must be funny, in the rich man's World!0 -

I told them once it had been fitted as I updated my contract with them. Nothing was mentioned about my new boiler needing to be serviced. I have boiler service & repairs with them, as well as the other services I mentioned, but if the boiler breaks down within 2 years I have to go back to the installers for them to repair it and not go to British Gas.
It seems a bit daft when the boiler's only 3 months old, to start taking it apart.Money, money, money, must be funny, in the rich man's World!0 -

Hmm, you say that, but when I had my old boiler (35 years old) I was advised by one of their engineers just to have it safety tested each year, not taken apart and cleaned. But when they sent a contractor out one year he insisted on taking it apart, which I was not happy about. After that time I always asked for a B Gas engineer rather than a contractor.Money, money, money, must be funny, in the rich man's World!0 -
BG service will involve , if not already fitted
A carbon monoxide alarm
A magnetic sludge filter
And as I had the above the latest one is a calcium remover ( I pointed out the little water softener I already had fitted in the same room )
Obviously all fitted at a bargain price by BGEx forum ambassador

The only issue here is that you've got a BG maintenance contract! And they sold you it despite having a new boiler because the person on the phone gets commission for that sale.0
