I’ll start you of. Overdraft fees that were too high. Asset stripping of businesses. PPIs. Credit crunch. Need a bank account for a job. Banks rescued by the state.....

Now I have to get a credit card, which I will use just like a debit card to “prove” my credit worthiness despite having savings, budget, paying rent for many years and being responsible with my own money. Can you understand I personally don’t need or want one, and when/if I miss the repayments the banks will charge me and leave a mark against me.

    I’ve got a card now.

Back in the day, this is how credit worthiness was built up.

Your mum or dad would open a bank account for you as a child, you and they would probably put a little away on a regular basis, then when you became an adult, you would have some savings, the bank was then free, at its discretion, to loan you some money, with your savings as collateral.

You would know your bank manager by his first name, your dad maybe played golf with him, over the years, trust was established and so on and so on, but sadly those days are long gone, replaced by credit scoring, far from a perfect system, but one we are stuck with, and if you want to take part in the game, you have to know how to play it.

No neccessity to have or regular use one. Most people with CC's simply end up spending next months pay before they actually get paid. Obtaining credit when there's need will be sufficient.

People of my parents generation didn!!!8217;t have a 0% mortgage, 30% was the going rate. People got paid cash, legally, but they didn!!!8217;t *have* to have a bank account. My father also had to sit down and have the !!!8220;I can afford it!!!8221; chat. Now it!!!8217;s a 25 year old branch manager sitting at the computer Little Britain style.

So many people seem to think I have the problem for not willing to get credit, just because the bank orders me to. Slaves.

Cool story bro. Another bank slave who likes the bank having control over him/her/it.
