  • None of which is documented in an easy to access system for lenders to check your history. No-one is forcing you to get a credit card, but its the easiest and cheapest way to show you can manage credit and pay it back on time. Do it your way, you've been given the advice months ago that is the best advice but you know better

Did you read the part where I was overseas for nearly 10 years and I don’t have a job.... hence I’m looking for credit, that is not necessary a credit card for the two reasons listed.

It's the electoral roll and that (and the job) isn't a "reason to be obtaining credit."

If you don't need money, don't borrow it unless you just want to build up your credit file in which case get a credit card, spend a small amount a month (a weekly shop) and pay it off in full.

You get your credit file built up for free!

Or you can pay giffgaff a 20% premium on an old iPhone if you want to throw money down the drain.

Neither Aqua nor Vanquis require employment.

    You should check them out.

Thanks. I’ve made the applications online and so far I’ve heard nothing back.
I’ll give them a call tomorrow.

It’s a shame 1) you need a bank account to have a job 2) banks have been ripping is of for years 3) they are forcing me to get a credit card

So a bank is forcing you to get a credit card, how are they forcing you ?
