Apparently the drain inspection survey is a completely different survey that uses cameras. I can’t find anyone local who carries out these specific reports. There's a company I use. They do both checks in one go for buyers and sellers. They work for estate agents as well.

Here's what's covered:

• full boiler safety check including the inside of the boiler
• full flue gas analysis and readings
• a check of heating controls for function and reliability
• a check of the hot water cylinder for function and reliability
• a full electrical installation condition report
• a check for any broken sockets
• a full check of the wiring
• a full check of the fuse board
• advice on all the above in regards to safety, condition and future reliability

They are recommended a lot on this forum and I think the owner actually posts on here too. Very helpful website too.

Thank you plumberpaig but this company not cover my area. There is one more company which I find online which is gas-elec. co. uk/ but there prices are higher. They also cannot cover my area for 'a number of week'. So anyone have local recommendations then send me a message privately.

Hello everyone.

New here but I have made initial enquiries to use Inspectify to do my survey. The post above is from 2018 where the gas and electrical checks combined are £175. The cost for the checks now is £229. Whilst I find the price more than reasonable (Gas Elec are charhing £230 plus VAT which is £276) I thought I should make everyone aware. The post above is 5 years old.

Yes that is the company I used. I got my gas and electrical certificates done last week from them. You can book online but have to wait a day for the paperwork to come through, you don't get it the same day which was a slight problem for me as I needed it urgently. Can't complain about the price and the service though. (£!75 for both and I also got my EPC renewed at a discount price because it only had a year left and I am letting the property once the purchase goes through)




Can anyone recommend a company based in or cover Cardiff that are genuinely as reliable please?

Can anyone recommend a company that is based in or that covers Cardiff and is as genuinely good as this company?

I tried the company above and they say Bristol is too far and local electrician wants £220 to check electrics and a gas engineer wants £75.

Seems very reasonable to me. You could get quotes from Cheka trade and see what they come back as.
