Has anyone used gassafetycertificate.info before and would you recommend them?
Yes, I contacted them 7 days ago for a price for a property in London. My reports were done by Monday just gone.

I'm actually wondering whether anyone knows of any reliable company in Devon? I am moving there (finally :)) and it's difficult to find a reliable company who doesn't seem to want to rip me off. I'm also finding it impossible to find one company to do all the checks I require. Inspectify gassafetycertificate.info only cover London and the Midlands and the convenience of sending one engineer to do all the checks is useful, especially as I find the seller is being a little funny with me  - it's strange there are aren't more multi-skillied engineers as these checks are most likely common with rented properties, are they not? Considering the amount of serious faults my (50 year old house had) it's certainly good value.

Anyone know of any decent companies in Devon? Or should I trust a Google search? :(

You won't find many RGI's who are also qualified electricians, or vice versa, they're totally different trades.
if you are buying the property, why don't you just get the boiler serviced? That will include a gas safety check anyway. or ask the vendor for a copy of the last service invoice.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

We gave our buyer a booklet with the service history of our boiler as evidence (boiler was 2 years old).
It was a pain driving 380 miles round to get it to complete as we'd left it in the flat where it belonged because the buyer wanted it before they'd exchange (FTB).
All it meant was that the boiler was regularly serviced not that it wouldn't break down 2 days after they moved in.
May you find your sister soon Helli.
    Sleep well.
  • BEWARE of arranging a boiler service with British Gas.

I organised mine in August , soonest they could come was 19 October which was annoying but acceptable.
Last week they emailed to say they wouldn’t do it as needy people come first and they would refund my £95 which they’ve had for over two months.

How many other peoples payments are they holding onto?

Still not been refunded over a week later.

One company stands out though as they do this kind of work on a daily basis, ie checking gas and electrics for home buyers and seller. They also send one engineer out and so it's one appointment for me and they also have a no pass policy, ie the refund my money if things fail.

From another very useful post, is this the company you are talking about?

Personally, I have bought and sold a property on more than 20 occasions now and I would always get a gas and electrical check done.

There's a company I use. They do both checks in one go for buyers and sellers. They work for estate agents as well.

    Here's what's covered:
    • full boiler safety check including the inside of the boiler
    • full flue gas analysis and readings
    • a check of heating controls for function and reliability
    • a check of the hot water cylinder for function and reliability
    • a full electrical installation condition report
    • a check for any broken sockets
    • a full check of the wiring
    • a full check of the fuse board
    • advice on all the above in regards to safety, condition and future reliability

Also if you click the link below it is £175 for both checks, not £200 -

They are recommended a lot on this forum and I think the owner actually posts on here too. Very helpful website too.

Thank you plumberpaig but this company not cover my area. There is one more company which I find online which is gas-elec. co. uk/ but there prices are higher. They also cannot cover my area for 'a number of week'. So anyone have local recommendations then send me a message privately.

Thank you and God Bless You.

This is useful, I just tried to see if they cover Surrey but sounds like they don't

I just checked the 'areas covered' page on the Inspectify website. I am based in KT postcode and they booked me in through WhatsApp. So they do cover Surrey, along with the following quoted from their website 'West Midlands, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Oxfordshire, Bucks, Berks, Surrey and Greater London and some surrounding areas'. Hope this helps someone out.
  • Hi again. Wonder if anyone can help me. I have used the company above but they recommended having the drains checked as they seemed ‘clogged up and the drain cover was missing, resulting in leaves getting into the drain causing it to over flow’. It’s also something the RICS inspection picked up.

Apparently the drain inspection survey is a completely different survey that uses cameras. I can’t find anyone local who carries out these specific reports. What would the advice in these circumstances be and would anyone recommend a reliable company? I do like to make sure I use someone reputable and who has very good reviews.

Almost anyone that offers a drain clearing service will likely have the kit for a “CCTV drain survey”

Personally used draintechnology.co.uk last year and was pleased with the service and report.
