Olive oil has gone / will go up in price partly because of the impact of harvesting during a pandemic and partly because of the Xyella disease hitting olive groves in mainland Europe.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I hadn't thought of clothing really, but after clearing most of the hand me downs from the loft the other day (after all 3 have had a growth spurt), it would be a good idea to at least get some basics. Thanks for the suggestionMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Charity shops might be a good hunting ground for Childrens clothes bargains at the moment with so many people recently having had a lockdown declutter especially when they grow out or things so quickly.4

To be honest i thought i had a lot more than i actually did in the loft. There is still a good pile of 2nd hand logo'd uniform for school, but not much else. I'm ashamed to say i didn't stock rotate the clothes and found a box of too small clothes that are now heading to the charity shop - at least they might help another family. I must label the boxes better next timeMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I suspect on an everyday basis that fresh fruit and veg will become more expensive after Brexit. I notice that a lot of it comes from abroad although not all from Europe. I checked my Tuesdays shop to find the the satsumas came from South Africa, the carrots from Israel and the broccoli and cauliflower didn’t have a label. Why are we buying carrots from Israel when carrots will grow in the UK? We need to go back to seasonal veg. I was glad to see the onions came from Cambridgeshire and the strawberries from Scotland. I grow some of my own veg, especially potatoes, and my youngest son has just built me 4 raised beds so I will be growing more in future. I’m hoping to be as self sufficient as possible. I am well stocked with dried veg, in particular lentils, split peas, marrowfat peas and barley and can make a variety of meals with those. I am about to buy a small under counter freezer for my utility room so that I can increase my frozen veg stores. I also have good stores of dried fruit: sultanas; dried apricots; dried prunes and banana chips. I initially bought these to make up my own hamster treat mix. I bought a 200g hamster mix from Amazon for £4.49 and realised I could do it myself much cheaper. Dried fruit has also proved quite popular with my grandchildren and will substitute fresh fruit if that becomes more expensive, and of course keeps much longer.
I’m not sure what else to expect to become more expensive.5 -
I've just received a very useful book I found on ebay called 'Grow your own for the hungry gap' by Trish le Gal, published in 2010 by Grow Your Own Books ISBN 978-0-9565724-0-0 useful information on what to grow to fill the hungry gap and how to grow it. Might be worth a look?5

Missychrissy - unfortunately not coming from Europe won't make a difference after Brexit as they are likely to be governed by the deals with have through the EU - all of which are looking to be null and void after we leave. Only then can we negotiate our own deals with these countries. At least that is my understanding.
I think getting dried in might be a good alternative for me given my loathing of tinned... I shall investigate..I wanna be in the room where it happens4 -
Also have a look at the last episode of countryfile to understand why food prices will be increasing. Changing weather patterns are causing massive issues with crop yields.4
