I watched the early part of the parliamentary debate on tv this morning before having to go out and have only just learned of the success of the Letwin amendment so this appears to cloud the waters yet again.
Will this chaos and uncertainty never end ???0 -

I suspect it will not.
However prepping is just good common sense. Our modern world that relies so much on efficient supply chains works perfectly....until it doesn’t.There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
Well, the sofa lives. A few bolts tightened and the squeaking has disappeared. Springs look good still. Bit rusty, but otherwise ok. The padding will need replacing before they do I think. Covers washed yesterday, mostly dry now, so will go back on later today.February wins: Theatre tickets0

All ready for next week when you'll be hiding behind it..?
I've got a bucket of sand ready to stick my head into
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -
Prepping is the modern term for keeping in a good larder of food and being as ready for winter or weather as you can. It's as old as mankind and it's only in the past 50 or so years that all things needed have become readily available 365 days of the year in all areas and people have forgotten the times gone by when things were NOT! Our grandparents would have squirreled away as much of everything available either by purchase or by home made effort as they possibly could because without the welfare state and the NHS that we take for granted today there would have been no one to pick up pieces and support families (which were much larger in those days) and life would have been very hard and very bleak if your supplies ran out or there was injury or illness which you had to pay the doctor to sort out if you had the funds available. People scoff at and scorn prepping but it's been here in some form or other for hundreds of years so I see it as tradition not aberration.0

Too true, it only takes a few days of real snow for supplies to run out with empty shelves because the roads are blocked despite having full warehouses
For back up I'd suggest a few packs of ready mix bread, or part baked rolls / baguettes
I know you can make bread from flour / yeast etc but for anyone who's never done it a quick fix is an easy & readily stored optionEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

Hahaha. That made me giggle. I will more likely snuggle up on it, with curtains drawn and wait for the worst to blow over.
We've just put the covers back on. There was a patch on the fabric underneath that had split, and a hole formed (only in the fabric). I had some plain white fabric stashed away, and fabric spray glue from a previous project. So used that to do a temp patch. I'm really pleased with how clean they came up. There are a couple of small stains that didn't come out, and there is obviously a bit of fading in the colour at certain points, but otherwise come up really nice. DH was just saying how it's done the rounds. Started in Swindon when he first bougot it, moved to Belgium with him, then to Holland, then into storage for a couple of years when we moved back, and then to where we currently are now. It is a well travelled sofa! LolFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Mx I've had a bit of time to look again at your list..
I can see loads of meals on there but I think you would be wise to add in some sort of either long life bread (frozen/partbaked etc) or if you bake some bread flour and yeast. Your tomato puree can be used on homemade pizza bases then too.
You have hot dogs are these going into a pasta dish or will you need rolls for them?
Bread can also be used for beans on toast as you seem to like them lol
Dunking in soups you have listed and make any leftovers into either a bread pudding or croutons/breadcrumbs etc.
Do you have porridge oats?? Again great for baking as well as brekkie..
I would add in some sort of butter or spread for sandwiches and baking and I personally can't live without cheese but that's not for everyone and on the expensive side.
Some sort of spice mix maybe as just tomato and pasta will be a little boring if you need to eat it a lot!0
