Lots of brexit stockpiling groups on facebook if you want to check them out?
I think that is more a danger (in some ways) than a no-deal Brexit personally. Nothing wrong with keeping ' a few days things in ' but turning your pantry into enough stock to rival a small corner shop is something else.

Not that I am berating anyone for whatever they choose to do, and this post is not negative or intended to be in any way shape or form, please do not read it like that. :) < An extra smilie here to prove the 'friendly' nature of it.

I'm reminded of seeing queues last year and previous outside our local (midlands area) cakeshops with people buying a huge excess of things just before Christmas. I can recall seeing one chap cheerly coming out with nearly a dozen or so bags of cobs ( ! )

Not sure on the need for this , tis not like a few years back where larger shops were closed on Sundays and smaller corner places had much limited hours (I think) , or at Xmas time where everywhere was shut for days on end. :D , these days there is no real need to go too mad with things.

Its slightly debatable these days with 24/7 online shop shop for those who want/can afford to do this if there's a need for local shops to be open so long, having said that the 'shop' market is declining anyway so we should probably support them and 'buy local' where possible.

Having said the above common sense generally says it is best to keep in a few random things regardless. I've always worked to a principle of "if I cannot leave the house for 2-3 days, is there enough here" , does not matter if said items are only tins of things and a few frozen bits etc some might say "omg no fresh bread" but you won't fall over if you have no bread for one day! :T , anyway a few of those 'wholewheat' or something else if allergy concerns are there would suffice yes ?

I cannot see any bread shortage though! We still bake a lot here! :D

Just sort of thinking of these 'disaster' films you see where people are going completely crazy at supermarkets (to be fair usually U.S based films) emptying shelves etc. :)

Public panic is the largest danger I maintain. :) Mind you there are signs of a 'deal' so it may not be an issue. My own thought without going into this to any degree is even without yes there will be issues but unless there is panic buying things will be there, just possibly not the exact brand you wanted, unless you wanted exotic "out of season" fruits+veg cannot see a mass concern plus after a short time it will settle back.

We do not produce enough 'stuff' here anyway anymore, sadly been in decline sine after the War I suspect. Far too many govt's seem to have turned us into some kind of 'service' rather than 'producing' industry, although the blame for that is fully shared between them all (lets not mention B.L I could write a chapter on that after reading up on it as I 'missed' it due to my age) :)

    Sorry I'm waffling on. :p:o

I took a look on 'the bay' at trollies, there is a decent selection it seems. :) Regarding the ones at the 'market' the high / no deep ones are handy I do prefer those simply as I don't tend to have that much 'stuff' in them. I seem to recall Sains also had two hand basket sizes at one point, they might still do this. What used to be FineFare ( ! ) pretty sure they did that donkey's years ago too. Mind you I have happy memories as a small child with grandparents in Presto too. I think our one shut in 1980! :(

    :)

I think that's what concerns me the most Andy the breakdown of law and order( such as we have atm!! )

First thing I saw this morning online was some daft !!!! holding an effigy of BJ's head aloft and a baying crowd cheering..
Now don't get me wrong people are entitled to free speech etc but it's going a bit beyond the pale now the hysteria and hate and as far as I'm concerned doing that is totally not on.
Imagine the uproar if it had been Diane Abbot/Corbyn or anyone else but I think it's shocking that because it's a Tory it's acceptable..

I wonder if manners and morals are ever going to return to the prebrexit days *shakes head sadly* :(

I think there's just been a general build up of anger over recent years - huge blocks of society feel they're being ignored which I think strongly ties in with the narcissism of the 21st century compared with the more humble values of previous centuries

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

I've done my usual and overlooked the completely obvious, just pop it into the main trolley. :D , I can manage the lifting that's not a huge concern.

That is exactly what I do, quite practiced at it no now. Mine has front stand so I grab that & a quick swing in, job done. Sometimes I prop the SM basket on top instead of using a trolley

I remove from trolley whilst empty & off load carrier bagged up shopping into it in a quite area so as not to obstruct others

I always ensure I take receipts, so should I get stopped in another shop I can prove where I bought items if ever required to, never happened yet, invisibility auto set on max I assume;)

Yes, there are other cheaper ways of promoting your new album, but from what i saw the quality of the model will have set the !!!! back a certain chunk (doubtless tax deductible, mind you) & our creative industry has always been about being eye-catching. Even Russia Today was unimpressed by the stunt and that takes a bit of doing.

I hope to see cheap copies (plus those of other muppets) available for bonfire night, but then I've always felt politicians need reminding they are not cherished & adored, but flammable.

Sadly the law are overwhelmed with crime, excess paperwork and political correctness (lets not go there!) as well as understaffing concerns too.

I'm sadly reminded of that riot in London not that long ago. I would take a wild guess here that 99.9% of those actually "out and rioting causing problems" were out just "for the sake of it" rather than for any actual original protest reason. The actual reasons for the protest (stop/run/search etc) are a kettle of fish in themselves.

Its debatable although when for instance I am in the post office and near the door and open it to let someone out, the response can vary from "thanks" to a almost disgusting look ( ! ) , its just good manners really. Especially if said 'leaver' has a pushchair or suchlike no harm in saving them a few seconds. To be fair its usually the people without said pushchairs who seem to offer distain at this, those with an "assortment" with them are usually polite! :)

I feel ignored. :) Without wanting to go into details on a public forum let us just say I "stepped up to the plate" to look after a relative as a carer for a few years (I did live there anyway but that is something else) , the 'damage' caused to me despite this finishing between six-eight years ago is still revealing itself. I do not claim any benefits btw, before anyone asks. :) People actually assume I do for some reason ( ! ) but no I've not had a single penny from 'the state' for a few years.

At the moment with less than 6 weeks to go to a NO DEAL BREXIT (if it happens) no one here has reported shortages or panic in the Supermarkets.
I believe there will be a tipping point and it will/could change in a matter of hours.
These adverts from the Government about getting ready for Brexit will affect the timing of the tipping point.
Preppers should not think they have lots of time. The situation could change tomorrow! Or not.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

There's definitely more empty sections in supermarkets now - particularly of the cheaper "Value/Basic" style lines - whether that's people using those to stock up or the supermarkets taking advantage of the situation and deliberately removing the cheapest lines so they can increase their profits by selling more of their mid price brands.

Having said that the only consistent shortage across all supermarkets seems to be paracetamol - shelves are empty everywhere.

Wasn't the tipping point around 17th ? but that seems to keep changing. Since bad news always slips out at the weekend, then I'm guessing the cold hard reality (if it does happen) will manifest on a Monday. But I think it's going to go right to the wire. If there's going to be panic buying, then you need to be in a state of panic. If last ditch 'negotiations' are being reported right up to 31st then we all sit here with baited breath waiting. It's both very clever and very stupid because if/when the no deal balloon goes up that's when things have the potential to get deadly serious in terms of panic, or worse still civil disorder

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
  • I would never ever think announcing to the world and his wife the extent or contents of my store cupboard anywhere, let alone on facebook where millions of people could read the information. It totally defeats the whole reason for having the 'emergency stocks' in the first place. I know what I've managed to put in place and I'm the only who needs to know!
