Pokes her nose in for a bit of a meddle.

My Rolser collapses nicely and has a something that hooks onto the SM trolley handle, so it travels round the shop with me.
I have had loads of compliments on it. I was tempted to get a tartan box on wheels, just for the hell of it and to shock my more bohemian friends.
In the event I caved in and went for a bright jazzy affair, much more suitable for my own brand of weird.

I may be 80 and grey haired, (we won't linger on the wrinkles,) but don't let any one overlook me as old and not worth their attention. They have obviously not clocked the swords attached to the wheels of my Rolser.

    What is this thread anyway?

Ah. Prepping for Brexit. Of course. How could I not have realised that?

There's a chap I see regularly in our local supermarket who gets a member of staff to put his trolley into the supermarket trolley (and out again obviously)
    Nail/Head :o

I've done my usual and overlooked the completely obvious, just pop it into the main trolley. :D , I can manage the lifting that's not a huge concern.

Oh off topic but my thing about Morr's, the cheapest one-way taxi was about £11 or £12 something when I checked, I've forgot the figure now. Although much pennies compared to two or three buses (two+walk or three) the price difference between the options is not that great it seems. Much expense buses here. :) No matter. May have to see about online at some future point again for shop.
  • When shopping for things that are not time critical, you can dictate to the machine & say No Substitutions.
When you want to inspect the offerings in person, could you share a taxi? As a minibus doesn't cost significantly more than a ordinary car, but you have to be a bit more strict about get to the tills after 60 minutes. (I have herded Scouts & they're either late at the tills or the loos & I suspect those problems carry right on decades later.)

One Rolson I saw online declared itself to have Thermo capabilities & thought yikes no - Far Too Obvious. Very handsome engineering but miword the cost new. Also not made in the UK so it is possible buying online sooner rather than later may be a course of prudence.

The ebay under a tenner stuff *should* pass customs without drawing unwanted attention, but I'd rather have the tech to hand than wonder.

Monn, I have No Problem imagining the blades attached to the wheels but politely hesitate to believe you are 80. Love the idea of jazzy to my own brand of weird - absolutely yes!

As a rule of thumb, a hand basket filled to the brim will hold as much as will fit in a wally trolley. So best not to use a supermarket trolley or you'll be tempted to buy too much. However you can usually hang your wally trolley on your supermarket trolley - there's a sort of hook on the frame just under the handle. Bit awkward but it works.
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Thanks GQ, you're right, it is better to pull them beside you. I walk into town on quiet roads so that is what I do in practice. I also have the luxury of being able to shop at quiet times so I don't get tutted at for getting in people's way

But if you want to be a grey woman and fade away into the background a trolley is guaranteed to make you unnoticeable to anyone under 40. When I got my Rolser I was very tempted to get one with a jazzy bag in bright colours but I chickened out and got boring navy

Mine is boring burgundy. With a rusty stain from a burst radiator in the room above...:D.

I meant one of those shallow/small trolleys, not the traditional 'big shop' full size ones - the shopper tends to fit snuggly in the front without adding (from what I can tell) too much front weight , so I guess there's a heaped basket worth of space left

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

Yes the local (I say local, as in nearest 'normal size' one) Sains at least used to have two trolley sizes, the normal large one and a mini one. The difference with the mini one just appeared to be it was only about 1/3rd the depth but they were sensible in that the 'bottom' of it was higher up so it was hugely beneficial to those who would of had issues bending over etc. :)
  • So, who's out with a trolley today & please can they report back on the relative volume? (Make & approximate model of trolley might help)

As this it 'holds a hand basket-full' to it 'holds the Shallow big trolley full' is a definite Need to Know! Candidates for the highest honours can report back on the bizarre aldi & lidl drag-along hand trolleybasket things...

(My family grouse as I bag the shallow trolley but they're long enough to reach in & out loading & unloading whereas I am not & complain vigorously... Suggestions that they do it lead to further debate as to the Right Way and a certain "Oh gods they had to pick my till" expression on staff faces.)
  • Lots of brexit stockpiling groups on facebook if you want to check them out?
