No but I've got tins of sliced & whole mushrooms.
Thought of using the sliced in omelettes while using the whole ones in stews0 -
They are also great sliced up and seasoned, for making Spanish Omelette (Tortilla)
Now if only I had some chickens!
Ah that's great thanks,
I think my anxiousness about this whole thing has made me a bit illogical because I really should have googled before asking but I didn't even think of it! So I've since googled, and apparently tinned mushrooms are good in things, like sauces, but not by themselves, like on the side of a fry up.
So we'll get a few cans.0 -
An interesting day on the BBC where they appear to have just taken on board the fact that it's 28 days to Brexit deadline day and have invited in a cross section of viewers to discuss how the information is given to the general public and what it would be useful to know.....a little late but better than never. I feel as I the grown ups are beginning to realise how woefully little accurate factual information has been put out during all the political manoeuvering and game playing amongst our beloved MPs. I wonder when the panic will start? and I wonder what the official response to it will be.....time alone will tell!0

hello,
I was wondering, if a person, whilst off sick with the flu took to reading all she could about Brexit, joined a preppers group on FB and begun to worry but has been too ill to do anything what would you recommend she does - like what should she buy? prepare for in your view?
Especially when no one in real life has said anything of the sort..
Asking for a friend obviously............

I've only gotten to this prepping thing very recently (last month!) but I am dividing my purchases between tinned and dried foods. I reckon if the UK is dumped out of the EU without a deal at the end of March (and that's a big IF) then fresh foods could be harder to get hold of, plus prices could take a hike, so I've been buying extra rice, quinoa, pasta, flour, lentils, split peas, stock cubes and tinned foods like tomatoes, various veg and pulses. Add to that maybe dried milk, extra batteries, matches and make sure your first aid kit is up to date. Then maybe add in things you like and would miss if they go off the shelf for awhile (in my case jams, chamomile tea, coffee, tinned tuna).
Part of me feels a bit foolish over all this. The other part thinks it's smart to have extra stock in even if Brexit ends up being nothing more than a storm in a teacup!0 -

A big part of me feels ridiculous. But hey. tinned and dried food here we come!Nevertheless she persisted.0 -
Hello Buffy! Sorry to hear your friend has been so ill ... Zentimes' reply is really good, actually. Tinned and dried foods are shelf stable, they won't go off; you should pick foods you actually use, rather than what you *think* you'll use. Veg, protein, carbs, sauces, something yummy (I use some tinned fruit for that, but also quite a bit of dried fruit, for convenience).
I buy rechargeable batteries - the top brand is eneloops, its a lot more expensive, but it holds a charge better, and lasts a lot longer in general.
Could you bear to buy a little camping stove and some cartridges, or do you already have one? Power cuts happen for lots of reasons, not just Brexit. For the same sort of thing, some 2 litre bottles of water. Water main breaks happen all the time, but also some water purification chemicals used by the water companies come from abroad.
Bit of a first aid kit, as Zentimes says. Tealights and matches, with a few tealight holders from the poundshops for safety's sake.
And toilet rollsalways toilet rolls

I have bought a campfire and have a small BBQ, I will buy wood during the week. Also ordered water purification tablets. Can't actually believe I am typing that....
Our water is suss at the best of times so we have some bottled water. But will get some more.
I have a plan on the way home from work to visit each supermarket to get what I need this week. Feels a bit weird. But hey ho.
thanksXXXX
