    Hi all,

    No spend to-day for me.

As far as husbands and budgets are concerned I gave my OH up as a lost cause ages ago...doesn't understand the concept of not being able to spend €2 if you only have €1 in your pocket...tbh he is not bothered about finding out either! He goes for paper every morning (his budget) and if he brings home anything from the shop that I haven't asked for he pays...so he is getting better at not buying things we don't need...

    Mr T? is that tesco?

I sorted out bathroom cupboard today, found several part bottles of shampoo and bath stuff. So I've decanted it all into a soap dispenser bottle so as not to waste it, and the kids can use it (my middle one especially, as she only has to look at something and her hands and face are filthy!!!) Saves me buying some more liquid soap for a while.

    Yes Mr T is Tescos

thanks for the reminder i must go through the bathroom cupboards asap and sort my odd ends out will give me more space ready for the bath stuff they always get for xmas lol
    Still Trying :o

Hi Jacks.I hope your cat is feeling better soon. Please can I cheekily ask for your hobnob recipe?? we love chocolate hobnobs in our house but i have to buy them as I don't know the recipe.
    Many thanks.

    Thanks Cath!

No nasty messes to clear up today so I think we'll just stop buying cat food and feed him whatever meat and fish we have in instead. (We'll ask the vet what she thinks when we go on saturday.)

As for the Hobnob recipe, We call them The Devils HobNobs in our house cos they're so-o-o-o tempting! I got this recipe from this very board from the legendary Twinks.

    It's ever so easy:

    8oz sr flour
    8oz sugar
    8oz porridge oats
    8oz margarine
    1tbsp golden syrup
    1tbsp hot water
    1/2 tsp bic soda
mix flour, oats and sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan stir in bic soda and add to dry mix, mix well, make smallish balls and put on greased tray and flatten slightly, 180oc for 15 mins, cool on the tray, you just want them golden in oven not brown.

I throw in an extra handful of oats and err on the side of caution with the marg when I'm weighing - cos that's just how I like 'em! next time we're going to do half with raisins or choc chips just to see what they're like

My daughter and I made up a batch this evening in about 20 minutes flat from getting out the ingredients to taking them out of the oven.
They're FAB! Lovely with a :coffee: and my daughter is taking a cheeky one in her packed lunch tomorrow!

    Love Jacks xxx :D

Just going to update my total spent £23.97 in nettos got alot of items though and 49p in poundstretcher on box of cat biscuits will definately struggle as total left is going down rapidly I have got quite alot in freezer and store cupboards
thanks for inspiration Mrs Mcawber and Jacks hope your cat is feeling better, my cat has hated all the fireworks around at the moment he has become virtually housebound!

    Thank you honey.

Ooh I know it's pooey for cats and dogs at this time of year.

My friend's dog has got so jumpy that he tried to burrow into her lap if someone slams their car door outside poor thing.

Our cat is ok if he's indoors - he just twitches a bit - but if he gets stuck outside he sits under a bush with his ears flattened trying to ignore the fact that he's in what sounds like a war zone. :(

Hopefully it's over now for another year?

    Hi all

I've spent a grand total of £10 at Tesco today which leaves me with £69 for the rest of the month:eek: .

I shouldn't need too much though really everything's well stocked.

Hi there, today wasn't bad, have only spent 6.38 on a few things and have dinner in for tomorrow night, so feeling a BIT more in control! Really have to get on the ball for rest of month now so can't afford to make any more misguided mistakes. If you don't mind me picking your brains, I live about an hour from N Ireland, which is better, Asda, Tesco or Sainsburys for value or is it much the same?

I prefer Asda or Tesco, however, I think asda are cheaper, though I don't think there is much in it, and with tesco you can save club card points. hope this helps.

I'm doing ok so far, got some bread flour and yeast today so will be giving bread making a go tonight, we often buy a sliced loaf that goes off before we use it (I don't think much of Sainsburys whole & white - goes mouldy within 2 or 3 days )

Unfortunately I haven't been able to stop my Pepsi addiction so spent another £2.45 today (BOGOF though at least), plus the babies have given me hell today so I treated myself to a bar of chocolate.

We're over budget for the week but it just means we'll have to be more careful towards the end of the month. I'm going to stock up on baby wipes in Sainsburys tomorrow as they are half price and we get through loads at the moment with 2!
