I have decided from this week (if it is allowed) to reduce my shopping budget by half, I am going to set a challange to myself to try and use up as much food out of my freezer and cupboards and spending as little as possible this month. So tomorrow(pay day) i will take £25 out of the bank (and put it in a little purse i have found) and that will have to see us through till next weds.
Tomorrow i need cat food, toilet rolls, more eggs (used alot for ds birthday party and made some quiche yesterday), more bread (dont know where it is all going tbh seem to be getting through the best part of a loaf a day), milk (which will come from using a voucher), some condensed soup(for pasta and a chicken pie next week). so my shopping list for tomorrow will be,
eggs £1.25
bread £1.50
milk 20p
soup 80p
toilet rolls £2.00
cat food £2.00
total £7.75p0 -

Dilemma...
I have managed to burn the bottom of a pan... and I don't just mean it's a bit dark...it's black and it's minced beef!!! (I have salvaged the most of the food) I have tried loads of different things to clean it...to no avail, please can someone tell me how I can salvage my pan so I don't have to throw it and buy a new one???
ThanksGE 36 *MFD may 2043

Hi tattycath,
If I am making soup, sometimes it dries onto the pot at the top. All I do is put a kettle-full of boiling water into the pot and put the lid on and leave it. It might work.
Or another thing that my mum just told me is to boil some vinegar and water in the pot and it should come off easily.
Hope that helps.

Hi there
I know a lot of people swear by putting some washpowder in the pan with some water, bring to the boil...reduce the heat and leave to bubble away... it should lift the burnt stuff off..you may have to do it several times though. Hope it works..-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

Thannks to freyasmum & MRSMCAWBER for your helpful answers, I shall try both.
As for grocery spends. I have managed not to spend anything yet today and hope to be on budget (or hopefully better) by the end of the month.
Good luck to Elly2 with your half budget.
Valk_scott what an excellent idea to save the excess from the grocery budget-thanks for that.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

well had a shopping morning but was worth is got lots of bits i wanted and did so well in Mr T.
Bought my sister lots of bits for her new baby as i ig ot lots of baby club vouchers so have bought £15 of nappies, wipe talc everything that i had extra points for or had offers in store etc bought the extra food stuff i needed too. Spent £52.99 and got 1243 in points result!!!
Actual spend on my stuff was £39.33 but this did include a few things that i did not need but were on offer so will save me money either for end of this month or towards next month. As i got Bold washing powder down to £4 and the milk was on the last day of 2 for £2 so i bought 4 bottles( i do have 8 bottles in the freezer but still have fridge space so worth buying i thought.
so far though so good this time last month i had blown my whole budget lolStill TryingGrocery challenge July 2016

lol If MRSMCAWBER and freyasmum hadn't come to the rescue, the window was looking favourable to me too!! lol. I intend to make a file of all the useful hints, tips and recipes I acquire from this site for future reference!!! (does that make me sound really sad??) lol
Mr T? is that tesco?
I sorted out bathroom cupboard today, found several part bottles of shampoo and bath stuff. So I've decanted it all into a soap dispenser bottle so as not to waste it, and the kids can use it (my middle one especially, as she only has to look at something and her hands and face are filthy!!!) Saves me buying some more liquid soap for a while.GE 36 *MFD may 2043
