Hehe, I know what you mean
I love being demented.

I'll aim for £100 for food, dog food, cleaning stuff and toiletries for me and a little dog (who's more expensive than he sounds!).
I'll start from November 1st and finish on the 30th.
Popped to corner shop last night and spent £5.50 on a few bits and pieces that now should see me through to next weekend (when I have visitors for a few days), using up whats in the cupboards and freezer. Am quite pleased with myself as I would usually go on autopilot and shop at the supermarket whether I really need to or not and end up spending £50! So a step in the right direction - at least for this week!
Running total - £5.50 (£94.50 to go!)0 -
Right well I've done my online shop, £88 spent, hopefully that should see me through to the very end of the month but I do think that Im going to have to buy some more bits at the end of the month.0

 Morning lovelies
I'm determined to kick the bottom out of this challenge this month!
We're doing ok so far... It's day 8 for us today and we've only bought bread, milk and bananas so far.
I had to take something to a family get together yesterday so I made the legendary Hobnobs - mainly because I had all the ingredients to hand and didn't have to spend any money. How quick and easy - and yummy - are they?!
I have also acquired a bread maker so I'll try and get to grips with that this month. I have absolutely no clue and it didn't come with any kind of info so I'll either search through a lot of threads on here or just experiment a bit and see what happens! :rotfl:
Our cat is throwing up any and all brands of cat food at the moment, so he's on plain tuna and chicken until further notice. (which might put a bit of a crimp in the budget... )
He doesn't seem particularly sickly or unhappy, but soon after eating he comes to find me with a look of wild eyed panic on his face and promptly throws up at my feet. (then doesn't know where to put himself as he's so mortified.)
Just as he comes to find me when he's got something stuck in his paw or a bit of gunk in the corner of his eye he comes to find me when he feels sick - so I can make it better.
It'd be very sweet if it wasn't quite so revolting! :rotfl:

I have those tins, too... I must have too much money (not!).
I will feel horrible when it comes to opening it to get my money and so I won't buy one again, but they are pretty and I have had a lovely ornament for a wee while. I use the tins for my 1ps, 2ps and 5ps (of course the change jar fills up much faster than the larger coins/notes!).
I'm giving my sister one when she gets married. I'm going to fill it up when I have a spare bit of cash so that it spreads the cost for me... I want to see her face when she opens it and sees a plain pot - she'll think i've gone mad... until she realised what it is. Or is that too tacky?

And back on to topicSorry. I bought some brisket today... couldn't not, it looked asbolutey fantastic and will do me and DD a good few meals... it came to £6 though . That leaves me with £7.91 for three weeks. Oops!

P.s. aww, jacks, I hope your cat feels better soon, poor wee darling.0 -

have you not tried Twinks hobnobs yet  ..they are seriously  and you will find this happening:EasterBun
Righty ho..cornedbeef hash
I use big chunks of :-
potato - cut some into big and some smaller chunks... the smaller ones will break down and thicken it up
carrots
swede
onions
parsnip.... but you can choose how much of each..you will find that you get your own favourite mix after a couple of goes... you can also add celeriac etc too
throw them into a huge pan and pour on enough cold water to come about 3/4 of the way up the veg...stick a lid on and bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and cook over a gentle heat until the veg are tender.
Grab a ladle and take out some of the liquid (keep it in a jug for later;) ).. you want to make it so the liquid is only about 1/2 way up the veg... we like ours really thick...
Throw in a tin of proccessed/marrowfats -including the liquid
and then chunks of corned beef..as much as you like... i used to use a whole tin as hubby likes lots...but i have been reducing it down and we are now at 1/3 of a tin and hubby hasn't noticed:shhh: .... leave the lid of and leave on a low heat, to reduce the liquid down...stir it occasionally so it doesn't stick... throw in some seasoning and your done :T ...
this is even nicer if made the day before and left..it thickens even more:D
It lovely with dumplings, yorkies, or a big chunk of HM bread and if you have leftovers it makes a lovely pie too
Oh and if you use a slotted spoon to serve it up..you will probably have some liquid left... throw the liquid you took out earlier - back in add plenty of dried lentils.... put on a low heat and when the lentils are soft... just blitz it and check the seasoning and you have a lovely tasty batch of thick warming soup :T .... hubby loves it..and well we don't like waste do we folks
once you have the basic one.. you can just tweak it to suit... have never tried using baked beans instead of peas but think i may have to one day soon-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50
