Extremely bad day today!! Went to carboot sale (bringing some boxes my neighbour forgot) and ended up buying a bread maker for €15 and three roman blinds for €50 out of my grocery fund  . I got a couple of books free with b maker and I needed to buy the blinds (they are really good quality, would have cost me over €200 new) but didn't budget for either and must be really tight for the rest of month to make up for unbudgeted items. Note to self: discipline girl, discipline :embarasse
On the actual grocery front, I have spent €26.87 in local shops on various items like milk, bacon, eggs etc that will just get us through til Mon. (told you here was expensive) but will get to Strabane hopefully tomorrow for my proper shop, so fingers crossed I will still be able to turn it around. I must seem so silly to all of you that are good at keeping to this, but I thought if I don't write it down and hold myself accountable this month, it's just going to be the same as always, great intentions but zero results. Don't beat yourself up about it. This is my first month and I know how temptation can be overpowering sometimes. Anyway like Mrs MRS MCAWBER said, you have saved loads of money and it isn't as if you have bought a load of junk is it!!! Stick with it you'll get there.
By the way, Am I supposed to include dinner money in my grocery challenge? If so I'll have another £80.00 a month to add to my running total (I am hoping someone will say no don't include it) but I would like to know whether I should or not please.
I was really good yeaterday. I cooked a chicken and fed 5 people with it, I made chicken curery tonight with left overs (enough to feed 4) and I boiled the bones with some veg to make stock to freeze. I am so proud!!! lol Normally I buy a chicken and half of it ends up going to waste!!!GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Hi can i join please.
I'm aiming for £150 for the month for 2 adults and 5 children for main meal and 1 adult and 2 children for the rest of meals.( it made sense to me:rotfl: )
I have a well stocked fridge, freezers and cupboards so it should be easy peasy:rolleyes: .
I've already spent a big chunk out of it on an online asda shop which should mean i only need to buy milk, fruit and veg weekly.
Off to update my sig now.0 -
Hello everyone,
I didn't do well at all last month, but I am going to try really hard this month. No wholefood shop for this month, so that will make it easier. My month started on Friday and will end on Thursday 30th. I have decided on £300 for the month, and that will have to include some items towards Christmas.
We have very little coming from the garden now, just the last of the tomatoes and salad stuff really. The leeks are pathetically small this year. So I will be going back to having a veg box every week, which will take £20 or so of my budget! It ain't cheap.
Anyway, good luck to all.

I'm in again this month:D
Going for £70 this month as I have a fair bit of food in the house so should only need to buy fruit veggies and milk.
However have a Mr T shop due today so hopefully that will come in quite a bit cheaper than the £60 the checkout said, why cant it show you the price with the bog offs??June Grocery Challenge 270.80/250July Grocery Challenge 0/3000
