Old Style Daily Tuesday 12th June 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone :hello:

Today I think I need a rest after spending what seemed like ages sorting out the weeds on the side path, but at least it’s done now. In reality it was only a couple of hours in the evening, it just seemed like longer.

I’m off the chiropodist with my neighbour this morning, and then we are going for coffee. She always insists on taking me for coffee after I have gone with her to an appointment and takes me out for lunch three of four times a year for helping her as well, which is really kind of her.

Thankfully not housework urgently needs doing so a nice easy day.

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.

    Morning everyone

Beenthere_donethat - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy, dreich and dreary - overcast looks set in for the day - but I'll be pegging washing out as it's still quite warm, so hopefully will get dry.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, tonight we'll be having smoked sausage and mushroom pasta in creme fraiche sauce with a breaded chicken portion for the menfolk.

Yesterday work wasn't as busy as expected for a Monday but the phones were ringing off the hooks - was like this last week but then the Tuesday was horrific - we'll see. It's my early finish day so a short day.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks. BTDT hope all goes well at the doctors and it's nothing to worry about.

Looks like I will be watering the pots etc again today. The odd chance of rain last night never happened and nor is any forecast for today.

I finally got Mr TA's Fortisip drinks yesterday but what a b******y palaver! I rang the surgery almost every day last week checking if the Dietitian letter had arrived and got a no each time. Yesterday I got someone slightly (!) more co-operative who delved into it further. Finally she discovered a prescription was done last Monday!!! The bad news was they didn't know where it was. Someone had allegedly rung Bo*ts to check if it was there. So a new script was issued and I went to collect it. Took it to Bo*ts for dispensing and what was there but the made-up prescription where it has been ready and waiting since last Monday!!! Livid - me - you bet!

Rant over! So now I can get on with making him some different nutritional meals with the assorted Fortisips. Found lots of recipes and ideas off their website.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) where wanted/needed. Take care one and all xx

    Im back :D :j

We have had the most wonderful holiday in Greece, it was very packed and full on but relaxing at the same time, we have been quad biking, mountain climbing, snorkelling and swimming to name a few, the islands are simply beautiful and the Greek people very welcoming and kind to tourists.
I have a great memory of sitting on Kastro beach in the taverna with a beer and eating Greek salad and wonderful homemade chips overlooking the most beautiful cove on the beach you have ever seen and then going for a swim in the sea after, it was a wonderful holiday and I shall try to return one day.

Ive not read back but see from yesterdays thread that Nels has has her op, I do hope that all went well and that she is recovering well xx

Camelot I also see that you have met your grandchildren :jhow wonderful for you I am so glad, hope the relationship continues to grow xx

Back to reality and work today :( and straight back into long week for me, only six days this time though as I was off yesterday so a bit better than normal, also this should be my last weekend (fingers crossed)

We did mountains of washing yesterday and got it al dry and put away again and unpacked the suitcases so that's a good job done.

I have gammon joint to put in the SC before work today so we will have that with mash and salad for dinner tonight.

Right best get on have good days all xx

TA What a fuss to get Mt TA’a prescription. The Fortisips are good for using in recipes.

Redruby I’m glad you had a good holiday.

Silver-Oldie I hope that you are feeling a bit better now, and I agree with the others about contacting environmental health.

I’ve noticed the same thing with strawberries Gers.

    Good morning folks.

Another glorious morning here, it may well be the final one for June. I've opened the windows already.

WB RR - your holiday sounds idyllic! I'm so glad you had such a good time.

TA - what a faff all round. At least you have them at last.

BTDT - going to the docs is the best thing to do.

Nelski - I hope you're on the mend at back at home by now.

Holly - my fridge stinks because of the strawberries, most unpleasant.

My lovely day yesterday was topped by a phone call just after 7pm from my neighbour saying he was delivering a seat for my front garden later. :j. It's so beautiful, he'd made it from elm wood. The first piece, more to come. There's two pics of it on the green fingers board. We 'christened' it by sipping wine and whisky almost immediately.

Today I have a free day - free to do some baking, cooking and a pile of internal verification.

I wish everyone a peaceful and happy Tuesday.

Morning all and thank you for starting the thread BTDT.

I am really tired, woke after 2 hours sleep to go to the loo. By the time my DS had finished in the shower I was properly awake and didn't get back to sleep as our bedroom was so hot. OH doesn't like the window open at night, well not much at any time but he has had to learn to put up with it in the daytime. I'm waiting for him to get up and then I'll go back to bed with the window open. It has cooled down a lot and there us a bit of a breeze.

I don't have anything specific to do today, a bit of hoovering later and some more horrid ironing.

Glad you had such a great holiday redruby, silver-oldie I hope you feel better and TA hope the fortisip helps.

I'm off to look at Gers' garden furniture now.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • That is one beautiful seat GERS. Perfect for sitting on, wine in hand, whilst enjoying your equally beautiful views! x
