i interact with travellers weekly through my job. To be fair they have always been decent with me and i enjoy visiting. Do I trust what they say? Not at all. Would I live near them? Not in a million years. This is a 10 plot site with at least 30 families living on them. You should be getting this house cheap

As others have said, it's impossible to say how the site may affect prices in the medium or long term. Is a gypsy site a better or worse thing to live near than a waste depot?

With a gypsy site you tend to get both in one.

OP I just wondered if you've made any decisions yet?

I think we should let the OP stop running and catch his breath before we nag him for a response
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

A lot of the posts on this thread, including mine, are perilously close to being racist. But I have take issue with this one - Rach doesn't fit a preconceived stereotype, therefore it is possible to be certain about her ethnic heritage? !!!!!!.

I think money may have taken Cheeky Monkey's comment literally, rather than seeing the underlying mischievous intent.

As the parent of a severly dyslexic person, I especially liked the bit about "the good spelling and grammar of someone that has had a steady education (and) that wasn't cut short prematurely."

Just gone back and done a quick check on most recent posts.

    No, she isn't.

She has the good spelling and grammar of someone that has had a steady education and that wasn't cut short prematurely.

Also refers to owning own house in London and having renovated it.

So - no. That is not a fair comment about her.

Just fortunate enough to have never been on the receiving end of the concerns many here have or worried that she might be personally.

    Google Damian Le Bas.

There is a small site 3 miles from me, the boss man is well respected in his community and runs the site and the people in it, it is immaculate and so is the area around it. I think it is better to live very close, depending on size and who runs it, rather than further away. No-one s**** in their own back yard but this is obviously an established site, very different from one which is not a community

OP, I seriously wouldn't proceed. 99% of replies on here say that - how do you think that will translate to your likely market should you ever wish to sell? Massive gamble.

Sorry but the travellers that came and went on our road literally used to s*** in everyone's back gardens. So yeah if you fancy someone taking a dump in your back garden, then live right next door to them :rotfl:

There's a Traveller's site in a small town not far from us and we nearly viewed a house next to it when we were buying - it was quite a nice detatched house that was relatively cheap - but it sold quite quickly. I did see it in the local paper a few months later because the owner was having a lot of trouble with the garden constantly flooding as apparently a water main was leaking in the adjoining field, which was owned by the camp. The water company couldn't go on the land to fix the leak without the owner's permission but the Travellers were very difficult to get hold of, meaning that the field flooded for months before anything could be done about it. It was eventually fixed but that would make me think twice about buying next to land owned by Travellers, although I think now that that particular site has become more permanently occupied.
