Sixt Car Hire Problems

I recently took a trip to Ireland for a wedding and required transport from Dublin airport to the wedding venue, I looked at a few and seen the best deal through a broker, Rentalcars.com.

I took car hire with Sixt or Flizzr and it cost me £44 for 3 days hire, Brilliant right?

I then arrived to pick up my car and they required a £1500 deposit which had to be paid via credit card. I only had a £1000 limit and read on their website that deposits were accepted via debit card.

At the counter i was told that I couldnt pay the £1500 via debit card and that my only option was to pay £101.06p for full cover and a £100 deposit all from my debit card, as i was in Ireland and 100km away from our location we were stuck with no other option and that money is alot to us at the moment.

Ive contacted the broker who are acting as a go between and we are yet top hear back from Flizzr however i just want to get some advice/help to see where i stand, they have horrendous reviews which i regret not looking at before booking but ive learnt my lesson and similar scenarios seem to be common with these.

Any help advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Michael

Looking at the Rentalcars site and a dummy booking for Dublin, beside the car company name in the results there is a link to "Important Information"

Flizzr states - At pick-up, the main driver will leave a refundable security deposit of 1500,00 e on their credit card. Cash and debit cards are not accepted.

Sixt shows - At pick-up, the main driver will leave a refundable security deposit of 1500,00 e on their credit card. Cash and debit cards are not accepted.

This is pretty standard with car rental companies. Even buying standalone excess cover does not mean you don't need to leave a large deposit, the only way to negate it is to pay the car hire insurance fee which you did.
