Virgin flight refund

    A 2 hour change wouldnt entitle you to a refund.


    do you have insurance, as a long standing member on here you may have read about the pitfalls of not having insurance inplace as soon as travel is booked

    It will be determined by the contract of carriage. Ask Virgin or check the details. BA allows you to cancel for a refund when schedules are changed 2 hours but don't know what Virgin's policy is.

    Unfortunately, we didn’t. We never imagined we’d have to cancel due to ill health and were leaving it closer to the time. A huge lesson learnt.
    However, we now have to decide whether to accept losing our flight money or throw more money at it and hopefully get some sort of holiday out of it later in the year.
    If we changed the dates would we be able to then buy travel insurance for the new flights? We’re not frequent flyers so not sure how it works.

    You can buy travel insurance at any time and most if not all will give you cancellation insurance from the time you take out the policy. You would of course have to declare any medical problems that you are aware of.

    Virgins conditions are


    f, after purchase of your Ticket, we make what we consider to be a significant change to the scheduled flight time which is not convenient to you, and we are unable to book you on an alternative flight of ours which is convenient to you, you will be entitled to an involuntary refund in accordance with Article 10.2 if, in our opinion, you have acted reasonably.




    have you asked them what they think a significant change is. IMO that should state how many hours as the way they write it is very vague

    I have just had a flight change (of less than two hours) but more importantly, in our case it was a complete flight number change.

    Is it just a change of timings or has the flight number changed?

    The new poster was informed about the two hour rescheduling back in April. I think any challenge over the acceptance of the new timing would need to have been made shortly after the notification time, not 3 months later.

    It!!!8217;s the same flight number.
    Virgin consider anything over 12 hours as a significant change.
    Thank you all for your help. Our only option really is to stump up the extra cash and change our flights. And get travel insurance, of course. Rest assured we won!!!8217;t be making the same mistake again!
