I got charged with phone number 09115628452 for 31 minutes where I never called. Billed with £48, spoken to service provider JOI Telecom but they only says one thing that you called as it says in phone history and they do not want to listen anything. Search on google about this number as they all encountered mention that it is a scam. I do not want to pay that I have not called. Any suggestions please? would be appreciated.

Talk to your mobile provider, by the looks of it there's no point talking to JOI.

Could be you entered a competition using SMS Text messages perhaps to win a shopping voucher with a major supermarket such as Tesco or Morrisons. Those retailers btw either have no knowledge of their name being used in the scam or they know but are not doing anything about it.

Thanks Silvertabby for reply. I have spoken to Joi Telecom who is my mobile service provider by giving references of this point and also few other references available which clearly mentions this number is a scam but they do not want to listen anything just like a radio type message repeating "You have called, it says in your call history so you have to pay for it".

Thanks Anthorn for reply. In my knowledge i have not taken part in any of this quiz as it says on other website about this as well. Just thinking that I have made a grave mistake by taking Joi Mobile either EE or other who mentioned in this website whose phone operators are happy to listen and refund where is applicable but this company is just bad which uses Three(3)'s network. Just worried that how to save my self in future by this scams.

Joi Telecom is an MVNO which uses 3's network. It's probable they don't handle their own billing. In the UK Ofcom oversees billing and certifies that a companies billing mechanisms are accurate.

I suggest you make a formal complaint to Joi Telecom using the process on this page.

Ask whose billing mechanism was used and when it was last certified by Ofcom. Make it clear you wish to pursue this to their Ombudsman.

NB They'll almost certainly need to get back to you with this information so
make sure you get their formal complaint reference number.

Finally, they look quite expensive, it might be worth checking they're right for you financially.

You may have an issue because billing systems are generally very accurate, could you have downloaded a rogue app at some stage?

Thanks pmduk for the reply. Very right to the target and specific. I filled complain using that form and that page got lots of information itself. Thank you.

The JOI Telecom price guide shows them to be completely in breach of Ofcom's new call charge system for calls to 084, 087, 09 and 118 nunbers that came into force on 1 July 2015.

I thought they were an overseas network at first, they seemed to be so alien to most UK requirements.
