This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas.

@TD. I keep finding numerous 'unread' posts which, when I open them, I'm faced with this template time after time. I could just ignore those threads where your name appears as the last contributor, then mark the forum 'read' which removes the emboldened heading, but then I miss anything others have posted. Also, you post other useful stuff, but I'm in danger of missing those inputs too, which would be a great pity.

Another, personal, 'for me', solution would be to mark your username 'ignore', then I'd see none of your inputs, period, which I really don't want to do.

I understand why you are doing this, but my view is that it is weighing down the forum. Is there any other way of doing this - maybe a PM to the posters to whom you want to convey the message?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

The wording used by this person, and the post by LoadsofChildren123 will help:

    And do you have either:

    (a) a feature on google maps on your smartphone to track your location, and/or

    (b) data records at the taxi firm HQ that PROVE you were called elsewhere between? Surely?!

Sent an e mail , scanned all evidence from my taxi company showing the camera's where wrong on all 3 offences , even got a cover letter from my company Saying it was not possible for me to be parked up as evidence on log sheets prove I went from job to job , here is the reply I've just got back from Parking Eye

    Dear Mr

Thank you for your correspondence received in relation to the above referenced Parking Charge, which was issued following a parking event that took place on 7 October 2017 at College car park.

It is clearly stated on our signs that failure to adhere to parking regulations will result in enforcement action being taken and vehicle keeper details being requested from the DVLA to enable this. The DVLA release the name and address details of a vehicle keeper to registered companies, such as ParkingEye, if !!!8216;reasonable cause!!!8217; can be demonstrated; i.e. a breach of parking regulations.

In this instance, 4 letters were issued prior to legal action but unfortunately, ParkingEye received no response. Our original notices outlined the appeals procedure offered by ParkingEye and provided a period of 28 days from the date of our initial correspondence to send any documentation you believe would aid an appeal to us directly. ParkingEye run a dedicated appeals team who consider each appeal on a case by case basis but we note that in this instance, no such appeal was lodged.

ParkingEye thereafter issued a county court claim on 27/04/2018 to recover the outstanding amount. However, as no defence was filed, nor was full payment received within the applicable time frame, the court granted a default judgment in ParkingEye!!!8217;s favour. At this late stage, ParkingEye would be unable to accept an appeal and we require payment of the full outstanding amount.

We can confirm that £197 remains outstanding. Please find our payment information below.

If you wish to apply to have the judgment set aside then you can do so by filing an N244 form. Please note that such an application will require the payment of a court fee of £255 (payable to the court) and that there is no guarantee that the judgment will be set aside. This will also involve a hearing in front of a Judge.

In certain circumstances, individuals may not have to pay a fee. A system known as the remission system is available to those who would have difficulty paying a fee and meet the appropriate criteria. It is for you to make the appropriate enquires about this system and details can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/get-help-with-court-fees

Payment can be made by telephoning our offices on 0330 555 4444, by visiting https://www.parkingeye.co.uk, or by posting a cheque/postal order to the below address. Please note that you must quote the above Parking Charge reference on the reverse of the cheque or postal order.

    Yours sincerely,

    ParkingEye Enforcement Team

Told you how to fight back in post #11 above.

In your unique position I would be proceeding to put together an ICO complaint with all your evidence. We will help.

I assume you also mentioned the other 3 and got PE to cancel them. If not, those 3 also go into the ICO complaint.

You can also lodge a Trading Standards complaint.

    clipped.

!!!8230; I understand why you are doing this, but my view is that it is weighing down the forum.

Thank you, I have just seen this.

I realise how tedious this can be to some of you, but I do believe that the end justifies the means, if only 10% of the recipiens write to their MPs, and I issue 20 posts a day, that will amount to over 50 complaints to MPs a month. All it needs is a few good MPs to make life very difficult for PPCs, is that not our raison d'etre

I note that CM has thanked your post, yet she regularly also thanks the offending posts, Where does she stand on this?

I am quite happy to call it a day if that is the consensus, but is it? What do others think?

Firstly go to the ICO website and read the guidelines about making a complaint, so you know what they need from you, etc.
