Old Style Daily Monday 4th June 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone :hello:
I love these lighter mornings, but they are not helping my sleeping problems.
It was nice to be taken out for lunch yesterday by my brother and sister in law. We then went and had coffee at a riverside tea rooms and watched people rowing (or in some highly amusing cases) trying to row the hire boats. I shouldn’t have laughed really, because I couldn’t have done as well as they were. I would probably have managed to sink the boat.
As my sister in law was going to look at some shoes in town yesterday I went shopping with them to have yet another look for sandals. I didn’t find any I liked but somehow managed to come home with a pair of shoes that were reduced. I don’t really need them, but as I have so much trouble finding shoes/sandals that I like and fit I decided to buy them and put them away for autumn.
Today it is back to reality, and I have got one load of washing to do, and I have promised myself that today I will give the kitchen a good clean and empty and sort at least two of the cupboards.
HH I you enjoyed your omelette. I would have laughed ay CHS as well.
RR what a horrible problem that you have, I hope that it gets resolved without costing you too much.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning Holly and all,
Holly what a lovely brother and sister in law you have. Your very blessed.
I've been awake since 4. Needed the loo, then one of the hounds shut herself in Youngests bedroom. They go in, the door self closes and they get shut in. Youngest was asleep, fully dressed sitting at his pc.. Then I knew it wouldn't be long before Grump needed to be on the way to work and as he was late getting up last week I stayed up and prepared his flasks.
It's been another tense weekend, both of us used to being on our own, doing our own thing....All the drama he made over £10 and the fact I wouldn't stop going on about it. I feel like we are being held together by a piece of paper at the moment, and the fact we would both end up homeless if we separated doesn't help.
Anyway, less of that...The hounds have had new haircuts. Blackun is running round like a puppy again...but I think that's down to the joint supplements more than anything else but its good to see.
I will be taking Diva to the baby weigh clinic this afternoon. She's not been to be weighed since the midwife weighed her at 10 days old so I thought I'd take her....might give her something to do other than wailing...I can live in hope.
Youngest has got the day off. Both him and his new girlfriend are going to get their sexual health checked. Oh and it appears she's not infertile, she's on the pill.
Onwards and forwards

Scampi had it on him yesterday, I cut the walk short because he threw a nasty tantrum at everything. Made worse by people who think walking over to say hello to him in a cheery way will calm him down, then act all offended when it doesn't. If any of the locals need something to gossip about, we gave them plenty of fuel yesterday
The park down the road was sorted out by the Wildlife Trust and our Big Local a while back. The wildlife part has been a bit overgrown for a few weeks so I was debating taking secateurs on our walks so I could trim a few overgrown bits every day, along my favourite path. No need, turns out there was a maintenance plan and it was worked on over the weekend, by local volunteers who were taught how to do it by the Wildlife Trust last time they were here :T
I've put my blanket to one side for now, it's too hot to have on my lap while I work on it. I bought a load of new underwear a few weeks ago and kept the silly little hangers it comes on, I've started making hanging bags. One can be a peg bag, I have no idea what to use the others for but I'm sure I'll think of something to store in them

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's still scorchio here at the moment. Steve got the fans out of the attic so I had a bit more of a comfortable night but still woke up far too early this morning. I fully intend to have a nana nap later on but I want to stay up for now as I want to wish Phoebe luck as she has her first exam today.
I have yet more shopping arriving between 9 and 10 so I will get Becky to help bring it in and put it away. We had a long chat last night about what to do about her education as she hasn't been able to go to school for months. I think we managed to come up with a bit of a plan but I will need the help of her care co ordinator.
My lovely cmht lady has been off sick for the past couple of weeks but I really really hope she is back at work this week as I would like to talk to her. I have been struggling to cope with everything that has been going on and it really helps to have an understanding ear that I can bend.
The house isn't too messy so just a quick tidy up is all that is needed. I caught up with all our washing on the weekend so that just needs to be put away.
I will be putting some music on in a minute and start peeling and chopping as I am going to make a beef and vegetable lasagne for tea with some garlic bread and salad. I like to cook the sauce for a few hours on slow and then it is just a quick assembly job later on.
I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning All
Went for a coffee at my neighbours yesterday morning and had a good chat. Re-potted some house plants then went to buy some pots to put them in. DS2 took some I had bought back to NL with him as he liked them!
It was a nice chilled Sunday and the weather was ok until about 5 when we had a couple of showers. No sunshine this morning but it's mighty warm! The thermostat is showing 21 degrees inside the house, I only have it up to 18 in the winter so feel like I'm permanently melting. These old sandstone houses hold the heat and the cold.
Swim and work today, we're getting busy now we're nearing the end of term, 3 weeks on Thursday!
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Really dark, dreich and dreary after a very humid night, but this morning the air is much cooler and it does feel like it may rain at any moment.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was gammon, HM fried rice and pasta in sauce - strange combo but was ok. Tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. Back to work today.
Had a nice visit out to local historic town I've never really visited before and it was lovely, quite a few shops were open so had a nice wander in the sunshine. We were going to have lunch out but there was more coffee shops than anything so we came home and I cooked the gammon joint. Yesterday afternoon me and DH had a bit of a disagreement and he's really got my back up - however he has apologised this morning but I'm just staying quiet and getting on with what's needed, can't be doing with tantrums - it's like having 3 kids.
Anyway back to work today so that at least will keep my mind occupied.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning and another warm day. I have washing ready to go out when OH gets up.
Dumpling I hope all goes well with Phoebe's exam and that you are able to get some positive solution for Becky and support for yourself.
Rosy red, that all sounds quite alarming and unnecessary.
Judi, I can empathise.
Today is meant to be a day off but I'll go to a late afternoon appointment to hand over to a new worker. Then call in to see a friend close by, then my final 3 days at work. This is likely to be a pretty heavy week but am still officially employed for the rest of the month so I can complete any unfinished paperwork in my own time. Next week I just go in for a leaving lunch, we weren't able to get a big room this week.
I need toast.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning.
It's very muggy here, too close for comfort. White sky again, this time no obvious sign of the sun.
Final Monday teaching session this morning. There will some frantic work being done before I can get everything packed up and off to the internal verifier.
For now I'm off to get ready. I hope that everyone has a happy Monday.0 -
Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. A hot and sticky night for us too. It doesn't help with sleeping. It's warm and cloudy this morning and it seems that sun will be in short supply today - but no rain!
I got the bedding plants in the front yesterday as planned and the soil was so hard and dry it was difficult to dig the holes! That's not usually a problem! Mucho watering was needed. Afterwards, although no sun, it was plenty warm enough to sit out in the back garden, just listening to and watching all the birdies. It was lovely and peaceful until some noisy kids on the top road started shouting and kicking a football against their metal garage door. Grr!
Not a lot planned for today, apart from the usual odd jobs, but I need to pop in town at some point for something for my SIL's birthday. I thought maybe one of the gift cards that cover a few different restaurants might be an idea. Not much else is needed so will keep a tight reign on my purse,
Now I must make up a big jug of fortified milk for Mr TA to keep him going through the day. Yesterday he had a fancy for stewed apples and custard. I had some portions of stewed apple in the freezer from last year so that was easily solved and I made the custard with the fortified milk. Every extra calorie helps! It goes in the nutritional shakes, lattes etc he has too.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all who need/want them. DUMPLING you are a star always doing the best you can for your girls. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone!
I have never really posted in these threads so I hope it is ok to post.
I am off work today and planning a domestic day! I worked most of the weekend so the house is a mess. I have put my FW vision boards up so I am hoping they inspire me! I need to do a major declutter but I also need to do surface housework so I am deliberating at the moment.
I am off work tomorrow as well but DP is too and I never seem to get as much done when he is home!
Hope everyone has a lovely day! x0
