THIS HAS BEEN MOVED TO THE DISCUSSIONS FORUM NOW.
Hi all,
Hope this is the correct thread to post in. I am just interested in your thoughts, it is more a social etiquette question. I guess it isn't strictly money saving (but it could be depending on who pays the bill! :rotfl:)
So, who pays the bill at the end, you or your partner? Does being male really matter? Or, interestingly, who does the waiter/waitress EXPECT to pay the bill.
My boyfriend and I always go halves usually.
No judgement here whatsoever, just interested to see frugality vs gender norms - and what is most common

We tend to stick it on the joint account.0

It's all from the joint account so who pays is irrelevant?0

Rule used to be if we were out for her family/friends she paid. If we were out with my friends/family I paid. If we were out just the two of us I tended to pay.
Now she gave up work to raise the kids so all finances are shared. It is our money not each others.0 -

I do not agree I think this sits under the relationship section of the forum. I am not sure why they want you to feel bad for posting in this section.0 -
We never have, now we live together and have children it's all 'our' money anyway - but even prior to that we wouldn't split it.
I think we used to take it in turns to pay when we both had money coming in. On the rare occasions where only one of us were working then the person working would pay0 -

Since the topic is relationships this did seem like a suitable section to have it...
I think it is bullying.
A new poster posts a relationship question on the relationship forum and is then made to feel like they have done something wrong. It is not a nice way to treat new posters.0 -
We split if we have decided to go out or we are with friends but one pays on the night and the other transfers from accounts.
However we do take each other out so to speak also where one or the other will pay and thats that.
Depends on the event0
